Are you superstitious about Friday the 13th.

Today is Friday 13th, but are you superstitious.

I was reading on another forum about it.Some were saying they won't go out of the house, and some said they definately wouldn't fly.
Well we go out of the house, and we have flown on a Friday 13th, and we are still here.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

    No, not one bit.
its just another date that happens to fall on a Friday.

For several years I was superstitious about this date. This was due to, aged 11, being knocked down by a car on Friday 13th.

However, several years ago, the best date to fly to New York, and for the friend we were staying with to collect us from the airport was Friday 13th. I did hesitate but in the end decided it was just another date. Planes ,trains and all forms of transport travel on the day with no problems, accidents happen, like mine did, but Friday 13th had no bearing on them. It was lovely flying on that date actually, as the plane was less than half full!
So my answer, Nan2 is no

Oh, didn't realise it was Friday 13th, thanks for reminding me. I wonder where that superstition came from.

Nanto - I'm not superstitious about Friday the 13th, and one year, before we had children we booked a last minute holiday to Spain, flying out on Friday 13th. No wonder it wasn't fully booked, but we just thought no more about it ........

Until we wer approaching Gerona airport. The Engineer came out of the cockpit, with a bag of tools, and looking very serious. He proceeded to take the plane's floor apart right under my seat, asking me to pass various tools down to him. Eventually he put the floor back together and went back to the cockpit ignoring our questions about what was going on. It was a beautiful clear evening, and we could see the landing lights at the airport. The plane went into land - and then took off again. Eventually the pilot announced we were diverting to Barcelona because of fog at Gerona! We went in to land at Barcelona very fast, much faster than you'd expect a commercial passenger plane to land, and the plane didn't slow down! There were fire engines and ambulances racing alongside of us and the plane stopped just inches short of the end of the runway!

We found out afterwards that when they tested the breaks on the approach to Gernona (routine procedure) they didn't work. The Engineer couldn't fix whatever it was wrong with them, and the airport at Gerona is very short and surrounded by hills. We wouldn't have stood a chance of stopping in time! As it was, the landing at Barcelona was the worst I've experienced. At the point where I thought we were definitely not going to make it, I can remember thinking "B***er", and we haven't even had our holiday!

I'm still not superstitious about Friday 13th and would still fly on that day, but I would try and make sure it was with a really good airline!

GM - yes, definitely our lucky day! I probably should have been a lot more scared than I was!
