    Should I or shouldn't I?

I'm going to the hairdressers at 1.30. I go every 6 weeks for a trim, but my hair seems to have had a growth spurt (?) just lately and it's got a bit longer and as the weather gets colder and I wear more things with collars it doesn't sit very well. I'm quite tempted to have about 3 inches off it, but then it will be too short to tuck behind my ears when it's in the way.

Or I could go the whole hog and have it cut short and layered.

I can't make my mind up!!!

Daisy can you not have a graduated bob where it is shorter at the back and longer at the side s so you can also tuck behind the ears when it gets in your way,I used to have this cut when I had short hair long before I had the long hair which could be in for the chop soon as it is becoming to long to cope with and dry,a bob always looks classic and elegant and very easy to manage.

It must be the time of year for changes! My hairdresser always asks what I want and I always say to just tidy it up! I might even go and buy a magazine with hairstyles to help make a choice. I go regularly now as he is very good only charges £15 - the going rate around here is £30-£40 for a basic hairdressers and a lot more for the more swanky ones. i.e. the two men who appear on a lot of celebrity programmes doing hair for Katie Price and the like. One of our lunch group ladies goes there and is always complaining that she paid £120 for a cut and roots! I gave her the card from my guy but she keeps going back to the same over-priced salon. She likes to be seen in the right places I guess!

Daisy,I'd go for the 3 inches. That way you'll have the option to go shorter and anyway with it shorter you might not feel you need to tuck it behind your ears.
I think your hair looked lovely at our meet-up.

I agree with Clover too. You can always have a bit more off if you decide to later. I'm off to hairdressers on Friday and am just trying to make the same decision but have decided just to have a couple of inches but shorter at the back, and I'll,see how I feel afterwards.

                      Thank you all, ladies.

Welllll ...... driving over to the hairdressers I spent some time thinking about what I wanted.

It was already a bob with the sides longer than the back - and it's a style I've been going back to regularly since I had my first Quant cut in the 60s! It suddenly dawned on me that I had never had the back longer than the front, so with a bit of advice from my lovely hairdresser we decided to let the back grow longer and eventually layer it slightly and have the sides/front shorter and feathered. So she's rounded off the sharp front bits and just tidied it up at the back.

Of course, in my mind's eye it's going to grow long, thick and glamorous!!! But whatever, it will save me from hair-boredom for a few months. I'm also tempted to have a few coloured 'slices' to relieve the monotony of the grey/white!!!

Qwerty - both GDs will tell you I've got no idea about styling hair - they suffer in silence! Actually GD1 says hurriedly 'it's all right, Grandma, I can do it" whenever I offer!

GM - funny you should mention those colour. I looked at the colour swatches and picked out toning blue, pink and a sort of purple colour!!!
