I have always enjoyed the heat and when younger I could stick it no matter what the temperature and I am very fair, but these days all I want to do is escape it , always looking for shade or places with air conditioning. Is this an age issue I wonder a cool shower is my usual way of cooling down at home and always under an umbrella in the garden, think my days of lying on the sun lounger are over it's just taking room up in the shed sadly, how do you cope ?

Not sure if it is an age thing Qwerty, (probably is) because we can't take the heat like we used to.
Yesterday, we sat in the garden in the shade. It's not part of the garden we use much for sitting, but it was lovely and warm, even in the shade.Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Qwerty - I'm a sunlover as well. I don't mind the heat as long as I can dress appropriately and go at my own pace. But, I do think the heat slows me down more now than it ever did when I was younger. I'm very fair skinned so have always been a bit careful about sunbathing, and Piz Buin is my daily friend when it's like this.

Years ago we could both sit out in the sun, although I liked a bit of shade I could escape under. Nowadays however, we just can't handle it. DH has olive skin and tans very easily whilst I have to be very careful not to burn. But we both prefer the shade now, and the heat drains me. I'm not complaining about it though, it's lovely to sit in the garden, under a big umbrella and enjoy the birds and the flowers, I love doing that. I just take things slower, make sure to drink lots of water and try to keep cool. Winter will be here too quickly 😎"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." - Dr Seuss

Factor 50 for me now, I am without pigmentation on parts of my body so have to be very careful. The sun is much stronger these days so everyone must be very careful, I enjoy the evenings when it is cooler. My bedroom doesn't get too hot as living in a bungalow you haven't got the heat rising into the bedroom, I did actually put the fan in the bedroom yesterday but it is too noisy. What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

I love the sun, but usually sit in the shade!
We have a parasol, and a gazebo thing we bought a couple of years ago, so shade can be found in my garden! I almost always at least have my head and shoulders in the shade when on my sunlounger.
I always use high factor sunscreen and sit with my back to the sun - less wrinkles LOL.
I hate hot nights, and wish we had air conditioning, but with our summers it wouldn't be worth the expense.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Although I love summer and the long sunny days I have never been able to sit in the direct sunshine from June to July and now that I have hay fever its even worse. I can be found either indoors with the binds closed to keep out the sun or sitting outside under a parasol . Age hasn't really change me in that way .Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Living abroad for so long taught me to stay on the shaded parts of Street if ever we went out you never see Spanish all sweaty and out of sorts, plus we always had siesta during 2-4pm,now I always sit under the umbrella in my smart new garden and to keep the body cool I run cold water over my wrists for 5 mins,it cools the blood and really works.Keep Calm,You're Fabulous

I find that my weight & age all contribute to me not liking really hot days. When I was younger & the girls were little I used to be a sun worshipper. Not anymore. I love sunshine but not the heat.
