He only went in his cage at night or if we were out , he followed me from room to room , sat on my shoulder in the shower then I had to blow dry him 😊 he even sat on my hand chattering while I brushed my teeth , never left my side , he died suddenly it was like my arm had been cut off , my friend said at the time ,but he's only a bird ! I wanted to punch her she had no idea how much I loved that bird .Im not fat just 6ft too small

Oma - he sounds like a very special pet, and I know cockatiels and parrots form very close bonds with their owners. A friend of ours had his dad's parrot when the dad died, and the bird lost all his feathers grieving. They did grow back eventually, but it must have been traumatic for him.
Your friend's comment reminds me of the people who say 'are you going to get another one' when you lose a much loved cat or dog. In my case the answer is 'yes', but it's definitely not a replacement for the one we've lost.

My birds don't like nyger seeds at all. PLant we used to have a lot of parakeets, noisy messy things. When the bird scarers were on the runways ours were the first tall trees they would come to in our direction. Since we had them cut down a couple of years ago (not due to parakeets but to get some light and sun in the garden) we haven't seen any of them. They were a flock of hundreds and your car would get pooped on big time if it was parked under the trees. If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together

We have two beautiful robins who come to feed at the same time. This surprised me as I thought they were territorial birds. (I believe it's the essences of mum & dad). Mum & I shared the love of robins. I've never seen robins with such gorgeous red breasts. Maybe they're a couple."Good friends help you to find important things when you have lost them....your smile, your hope, and your courage."
