Dyou still have your wedding dress /outfit

Following on from our chat about clearing the wardrobes out, and a conversation with granddaughter, wondered if you still have yours.

Been speaking with GD, and she told me she had been looking at wedding dresses on the internet, just to get some ideas.
She was very surprised when I told her I still have mine. She said she could remember me showing it to her when she was very little, but thought I would have got rid of it now, because I am always clearing stuff out.

Posted a couple of photo's in media, but can't see my outfit very well.

Not me, it was in the dressing up box for years but I must have thrown it out.

No mine was in a box in the loft like everyone else does it was a white knee length with a little lace Jacket but it went bit yellow so when we moved I binned it . I was a very small size 10 then and had to alter the shoe string straps as I had no bust to go in itπŸ˜€ today I wouldn't get it past my knees πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜†

My first one was a very "hippy" affair, would have been 43 years ago and I have no idea what happened to it I have moved so often since then, my second one, 34 years ago, was actually a cream silk two piece dress suit with a gold vertical stripe, my charming second husband ripped it to shreds in one of his foul drunken moods along with all my other good clothes one night. My final one is actually on my sofa right now. It was hanging in the loft and I thought it was sealed at the bottom but it wasn't and the petticoat is brown with dirt and dust (it has been up there for 16 years) so I am taking it to be cleaned. It was my favourite one, cream silk, lace and taffeta with a big full skirt. I always intended to have it shortened and some of the petticoats removed and have it dyed to wear it as a cocktail dress but as the years went on it didn't happen and then the cocktail parties we used to go to dried up so it ended up in the loft when we moved here. I am not sure I would get in it now to be honest but I am considering having the amendments made to it for our silver wedding anniversary next year. We aren't renewing vows or anything but we will have a do of some sort.

I never had a white wedding so no. I did hold onto my dressy outfit when I married OH in 1990 for a long time though.

I didn't have a white wedding either. I was quite happy to marry in the local register office, in a matching dress and coat.

I hired my wedding dress from Moss Bros in Croydon, so No, I don't have mine anymore! I do have my bridesmaid's dress from my brother's wedding but I can't even get into it! But it is a lovely dress. so I'm holding on to it just for the memories!

Somewhere in the remote corner of the loft, I've still got my veil. I've no idea why! Like a lot of brides in the 60s I had my dress made into an evening dress, but never felt right in it. I can't remember parting with it but I must have done at some point! I also still have my going away outfit - a bright pink sleeveless dress and a full-length coat - somewhere between my knees and much higher! At least I can still get into the veil!!!

Not the dress it disappeared! But I do have the lace parasol that I carried, and also the silver sixpence that went in my shoe. Both DILs used the sixpence for their wedding days. 'something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a sixpence for your shoe!'
