OH is always threatening that we will clear out the loft and get rid of things. We moved here 5 years ago, and many boxes have just remained untouched up there. I know she is right, but I hate to part with things!

When we moved we had to get rid of so much stuff that I loved, like my beautiful 16 seat dining table and black iron chandelier which took real candles, my lovely free standing five foot high candle vase. In the garage we have crystal decanters, marble figurines etc. that I just don't want to get rid of. I am sure the kids wouldn't want them but a lot of them were wedding presents.

When we decided to move away and sell our family home of 22 yrs it was the hardest and best decision we have ever made (if that makes sense to everyone) our youngest son had joined the Military and eldest son was based in Germany,DD had her own house with OH so we where left with a big 4 bed house with 2 en-suites and 3 lounges plus a very large garden, even though the DCs had left home we both still worked full time therefore we never had time to appreciate our home and my days off where taken up with visiting DD to babysit and to then spend a day shopping and cleaning.
We had always thought of living abroad and really should have made the move years before but held back because of schooling for DCs if I had then realised that the education was far superior to UK we would not have waited so long.
DD had her home fully furnished from what we did not take with us and we where lucky enough to have time for car-boot sales which made a nice few £s I must say,the only things I hated getting rid of was my beautiful curtains as all the front rooms where big bay windows and being in the job I was in as a new homes negotiator and show home planner I had extra special deals from Arighi Bianci who did our show home designs so of course my curtains where of a quality I couldn't normally afford to buy.
We had a fully laden loft area which got sorted slowly and all the toys went to the local Church play group except the ones DD wanted for DGSs,it did take a bit of getting used to when we arrive at our new Villa as the lounge was small and kitchen even smaller than I first imagined but it was a case of getting used to outside living and dining which I soon got used to.
In our flat now we have a decent lounge and one bedroom but are fortunate to have a "box-room" which we used as OHs dressing room and it makes for a decent amount of space in the main bedroom this will all change of course if we accept the bungalow we have been asked to view to-morrow but another chapter in our lives seems to be starting and I am looking forward to it.
Zizi I know what you mean about parting with special objects we still have 4/5 packing boxes not opened in DDs loft from when we came back from Spain nearly 8 yrs ago and I have forgotten what is in them

We still have boxes in the loft that we haven't unpacked since our last move - ten years ago!
