The up side of being semi retired is time to do all the things I have wanted to do but never had the time or energy for. I have made lots of jam this year, about to make my first ever chutney, so many tomatoes which are not going to ripen now. My quilting is coming along nicely, been practising making little cuddle cushions for my girlies. Of course my time is still taken up with the little ones and supporting my DD as much as I can,but it's good to keep busy isn't it,less thinking and worrying time.

Do you know I was just about to write that I hadn't seen any posts from you for a while! Glad to hear you are enjoying yourself. I am just about to make green tomato chutney as well. My toms have gone bonkers in the last couple of years unlike my strawberries which did precisely nothing. If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together

LG - it's true - we have missed you.
Well done on all that productivity! I love home-made jam. Shop-bought is never quite as nice. We make chutneys most years - it's a good way to use up produce like green tomatoes, courgettes etc. We've also got a nice red tomato chutney recipe for years of plenty when the freezer is already stocked with chopped toms for casseroles, stir fries, etc, and tom soup by the bucketful. Ditto a tasty apple chutney recipe.
Happy stirring, LG"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "

It's a great feeling when you have made something isn't it..... I am making a cot quilt for our new baby, and have just knitted some little bonnets and now working on a cardigan. I love sharing the pickled beetroot I made with the DILs, and Marmalade - they love it. Yesterday I made a large batch of white chocolate, cranberry and giant raisin cookies - my lot have wolfed them down today, after eating my lamb roast dinner and apple and blackberry crumble. All the veg except the broccoli was grown in the garden and so was the apples and the blackberriesGrandmothers are just antique little girls - author unknown
