A forum for everything!

Chatting to DD1 yesterday I mentioned the Knee Replacement forum which has been my lifeline these last few weeks.
She laughed and said that I join a forum for everything going on in my life! I laughed too and had to agree.

I have friends from most of the forums.

The first was a slimming forum, which (a bit like Grannynet) morphed into a smaller one. That forum is no more, but I have our own Lizzie, and IE who lives in my town, both long standing friends from that forum.

Next was a menopause forum which I belonged to for several years. I am still in touch with two friends in America and one in Birmingham from that forum.

Then came a forum for married/separated/divorced women who were either questioning their sexuality or in relationships with a woman. I am still FB friends with half a dozen ladies from there, some in the UK some in America. We haven't met up for several years (and two I have never met)
At the same time I belonged to a forum based on an annual lesbian arts festival which was held in York for several years. My good friend J is from that forum and lives 3 miles from me.

Then I heard I was to become a Grandma, and the rest you know! I have so many lovely friends here and I know you are all friends for life

I belonged to a forum for alternative therapists, when I worked as a reflexologist , an NHS weight loss group and now this knee replacement one.
I haven't made any friends from those groups, they were more about getting information and sharing support.

I wonder if there are any more forums waiting for me?!

Gem, how I wish there had been forums around when I was experiencing the menopause. It would have been such a lifeline.

I use online groups a lot as well, though mostly via Face Book pages - a couple of Art groups, several dog, dog rescue and dog-feeding groups, a couple of music/piano groups, photography, genealogy, groups about my home town and a few others. It is also the way I keep in touch with friends abroad. GransRus, of course, is in a totally different category and I value our collective friendship so much.

I know there are many problems with social media, but it does have its advantages.

I belong to several local Forums but GranRus is the only World Wide one. I did belong to Grannynet but it is not for me. Gemini, I certainly didn’t know there are forums for everything.

Only this one for me , I never even joined one when B was so ill with Cancer although the hospital did give me lots of leaflets.
Its just not for me I think

B has his Army forum , A car forum & Cancer research and pain management ones I’m not sure if he has any others

I was a member on Gransnet,its from there that i was invited to here by Elisi.

The other forums i'm a member of are competition forums.

Oh dear - far too many. Wild flowers. Trees. Fungi. Insects. Local industrial history. History Soc. Friends of Woolwich Common. My old school. Local amenity group. And a fair few political ones.
Mind you, I only post rarely if I need to or want an I/d. But I like to keep up with what’s happening locally, and what the experts are doing in areas that I’m interested in.
Perhaps I’m a sad soul with nowt better to do!

Not sad, Sum1, just a person with many interests!

I belong to a few FB groups as well as the knee replacement forum. For my village, my school, a Born and Bred one for York which has many interesting old photos, and a local missing cats one!

Sum, as Gem said, you are a woman of many interests, so I certainly don't think it's sad to use so many sources of information, discussion, etc.

Sum, I am sure I can speak for other members of this Forum, we are always interested in what you post, keep it up.

I belong to one or two local Forums but rarely post.
