    Old clothing

After I did a big clear out of my shoes and handbags ,
Today we both decided to clear both wardrobes , Things that no longer fit ,didn’t like ,never wear , you know the drill .
We both had a huge pile then we decided to go through our coats and Jackets we keep in another cupboard .

Most are in clothes bags so we forget what we have not being able to see them .
We got between us 6 coats we haven’t worn for a long time , plus B had 4 Jackets he no longer wears .

But there are Jackets I have had many years I won’t part with .

One is a Olive green collarless sort of Tapestry Jacket I have had 19 years , I know this as my DD bought it for me as a birthday gift the year before GS1 was born .

I love this Jacket it’s so smart and each spring it comes out , It’s not thick enough to be a winter Jacket but too thick for summer , so spring time is perfect , I also have a very lightweight Navy collarless Jacket that’s at least 25 yr old that only comes out in summer if I have to dress up ,
I wear them and they are in perfect condition, so can’t see a reason to part with them just because they are old .

Am I the only one who has stuff this long or have any of you got things from many years ago 😁

Oma, I have a lovely trench coat, I bought it in Scarborough the first time DH went with me to the Uk, let me think, 33 or 34 years ago! Plus the rest, I have quite a few older things, oh, only last week I replaced the buttons on one of my mums blouses, she died 24 years ago! I could go on, a wax coat it will be 22 years ago I bought that.

You're not the only one Oma.
I have a few coats/jackets that don't get worn very often, but i won't part with them.
In fact i wore a navy coat a couple of weeks ago, hubby laughed and said how long have you had that.
Its in good condition, fits nicely and i feel comfortable in it.
I know for a fact i have it over 30 years.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Isn’t it strange how we get attached to certain items of clothing 😁

I confess - I'm attached to a dress I've had for a little over 50 years! It's full length, Empire line, with narrow red straps and is navy with tiny white spots. It doesn't fit, I'll never wear it, but somehow I can't bring myself to part with it.

I've got some other clothes that are over 20 years old, and some of them need rehoming. But some, mostly trousers and a couple of skirts, I still wear when the occasion or mood is right!

Most of my stuff is old! I know I’ve got too much (TkMaxx bargains) also items I used to wear for work or court which rarely see the light of day. But I had so much bother finding smartish clothes that fit that I’m not parting with them in case they ever ‘come in’.

Sum, I think the "anything goes" trend these days works in favour of people like us who keep clothes for years. Plus there's a huge demand for 'vintage' clothes from the 60s and 70s and eventually I think even shell suits (remember them!) will come back eventually.

Gem, I'm sure OH's funeral coat is top quality and will always look smart.

I must confess, I hang onto clothes that I liked wearing but are not in fashion and don’t fit me anymore. I have a clothes rail in my spare bedroom with trousers thst no longer fit me in the hope I can slim into them again.

Plant, I'm sure you're not alone in keeping trousers that are just a little bit too snug! We live in hopes of fitting in to them again.
