    Food quirks

Following on from BL`s thread about Halloumi has anyone got any funny food quirks ?
For instance Brian thinks its odd that if I have a Pork chop or a Gammon steak I don't want anything else to go with it , after all these years of marriage he cant get his head around the fact that I just want that and nothing else , Also I don't like mushrooms on the same plate as any other food I have to have them in a small bowl to keep them separate , and if on the rare occasion we have shop bought pies I have to take the lid off and rake around the filling before I can eat it , and I cant drink anything from a carton unless I decant it first into a jug

I must admit, nothing like that, if anything at all Oma

Does seem a bit odd not to have veg. or salad with meat. I like beetroot but cant eat it with other food, it makes everything pink.I can't eat fat on meat, have to cut it all off, sometimes there isn't much meat left. and I hate Okra.

I love beans on toast but cannot cope with the beans on top of the toast - they have to be on the other side of a big plate so they do not touch until I put them together each mouthful. Sorry plant - I absolutely LOVE okra - has to be curried though.

Three things I hate: liquorice, liver and beer.

I love Liquorice not a lover of Okra, either , BL im like that with beans on toast love it but prefer them to be separate ,same with scrambled eggs on toast separate is best . I also wont eat Peas if we out for a meal not that I don't like them but I have tremors so they go everywhere not nice throwing them across the table hahaha

Will eat eggs in an omelette but not any other way; hate all offal; can't eat fat an any meat; don't like lamb. Think I'm getting choosier about what I eat when I'm out for a meal too, often end up with the vegetarian option!
Love liquorice toffees, Callard and Bowser used to make them but I haven't seen them for ages. Also developing a taste for ginger. My Dad used to love it, but I couldn't stand it when I was younger, but like it now! Must be an age thing!!!

Should have said that my DS eats each item on his plate one at a time. Never puts two things together. He also takes the pastry off sausage rolls, eats the filling, then the pastry!

I also hate runny cream especially if poured on desserts. Clotted cream gives me the heeby jeebies!!

I don't like shop bought pies, because I'm fussy about the meat inside.I prefer to make my own, but I trim every little bit of fat off.I don't like the narrow end on rashers of bacon, so I buy bacon medallions.

Do you find that your tastes have changed as you've got older. Hubby has now decided he doesn't like pork chops. Sausages were a thing we never ate, now he asks for them. He will eat scrambled eggs now,but didn't used to like them.

I don't think I have any quirks about what I eat with what, but I absolutely have to make sure my knife and fork don't have any food stuck to them when I've finished.

I'm not that keen on bacon and eggs, but I always have toast with a generous layer of marmalade on afterwards to take the taste away!

What you said Daisy reminded me that when growing up if we had fish (kippers/mackerel/smoked haddock whatever) the meal was always finished with a slice of bread and strawberry jam. I have no idea why but I find I still have to do this now otherwise the meal doesn't seem right.
