    Roller coaster days

Do you ever get days when "it's all happening" - some good things which make you feel elated, and some not so good which bring you back down to earth with a big bump?

I've just had two days like that!!

Yesterday Patio Man should have been here at 7.30. At 9 am I texted him - he was at the hospital having a blood test he'd forgotten to mention! Then two labourers turned up - one them PM said he'd sacked!! PM eventually arrive mid-morning. After the previous days of being so unreliable I was pretty cross with him! Then it became obvious that the 'extra' worker was starting on a job across the road. So I said I hoped he wasn't going to start there until our patio was finished. OH was "quite" cross as well, but I persuaded him not to say anything. Then they went off for lunch - for an hour and a half! We exchanged views on this! Eventually peace was restored and he worked till 6 pm.

Then we heard DS1 had got an appointment to see a specialist about his nails next week. They're very painful and weeping, so hopefully they will be able to help. In the meantime he's got antibiotics.

By mid-afternoon OH's eye was feeling better, and he'd also done a tip run, which had taken ages because there was a long queue, despite an appointments system.

I had a chat to DS2 about GD1's first day at her new school - amazing, fantastic and brilliant was her verdict!

Today DIL1 sent me photos of their beautiful newly-finished patio, with huge brown stains all over it!! The chap had washed it off with a product containing hydrochloric acid, and it seems it's permanent. DS and DIL are so upset - this has been their big project for the summer and had been planned so carefully, and they've enjoyed it for precisely one day. I could have wept for them.

But our PM turned up as promised at 7.30 today and has worked all day, with a couple of breaks, plenty of tea/coffee and doughnuts!

DS1 is struggling with the antibiotics, with palpitations and sore tendons. The hospital have sent a prescription to the GP so hopefully that will help. DIL was collecting it. - Not sure whether this was before or after she had to take Bailey the BC to the vets with a torn carpal pad. (You couldn't make it up, could you!)

Then GS1 got a message to say he'd been offered a job from an interview he went to yesterday! At exactly the same time as OH's oldest sister's husband phoned to say that OH's eldest brother, who has recently been diagnosed with vascular dementia, will not be able to go home, and they're looking for a suitable bed for him in specialist accommodation. By this time OH was ready to go out for the evening - for the first time since February 2020 - so I'll have to tell him when he comes back tonight.

I hope tomorrow will be more peaceful.

Sorry for the long post, but I needed to tell someone. xxx

Daisy, I’m here and reading. What a rotten couple of days. It’s a good job you are made of strong stuff. Got to go out now, but will be back later. X

Goodness Daisy, time to lay in a darkened room. Pleased you had the workmen today, can’t imagine what he is playing at. Pleased to hear GD1 had enjoyed her first day of school. How awful about the damage done to DS and Dil’s patio, hope this can be resolved or dissolved. Good news about the job, is DS1 well enough to work?

thank you all, ladies. It helps to talk!!

Plant - it was GS1 who got the job. He's just finished College and didn't want to stay in education. He really, really wanted an IT apprenticeship, and that's what the job is that he'd got, so he's over the moon.

As far as the stained patio is concerned, DS1 thinks the only option it to replace! I don't know if it's possible to just replace the most-damaged slabs or if that's not feasible. They're hoping the chap has insurance, if not they hope it's covered by their home insurance.

Daisy, you don't need anymore days like those.

            Hope DS1 feels better soon.

Good to hear GD1 had an amazing first day at her new school.
Brilliant news about GS1 being offered a job.

I hope DS and DIL patio can be rectified.

            Sorry to hear OH brother.

Talk about it never rains but it pours.

nothing could be done with it .

Poor BIL it must be hard for his family having to admit he needs specialist care

Its all or nothing at times , is Bailey ok ?
At least good piece's of news for GS and GD ,always a light in the dark

Daisy, good lord - roller coaster indeed.
I hope tomorrow is more peaceful, and I really hope your DS can have some relief from the painful nail problem.

                You need a holiday! xxx

I’m sending peaceful vibes to you from Essex Daisy. They should do the trick. I think you have had your share of downs at the moment, time for ups only. Roll on tomorrow.

                    Thank you all so much.

Grauntie - the peaceful vibes are lovely - thank you. xx

Gem - you're so right! xx

Oma - that's bad news about the staining. Was yours caused by the same thing? Poor Bailey looked very sorry for himself - they don't know how it happened.

I don't know what's happening about DS and DIL's patio yet.

Lizzie - I think you're right about needing a rest - I have no energy today!

GS1 starts his job on the 20th. It's just a short bus ride away, which is great. He's learning to drive but in the meantime it's great he can get to work independently. I'm over the moon for him, and I know his mum and dad were very worried about him finding a job.

Daisy ours appeared after the drive and paths were pressure hosed so not sure what caused it ,
I would like to take them up and start again but its so expensive ,

When my Brother was alive he thought it might be a reaction to the base maybe some chemical was in it and the paving was porous allowing it to seep through it .

Oma - I think your Brother was right - there's some sort of chemical affecting it. Was your paving pressure hosed with some sort of additive in the water, or just plain water?

I know DS1 isn't going to be happy leaving the staining.
