Things I wish and wished for

When I was younger as in teens I longed to be able to whistle you might think it unladylike but I had friends who could whistle by putting their fingers in their mouths and whistle loudly to attract someone. Oh how I longed to do that and when at concerts instead of applauding I could whistle loudly and to this day I still wish I could do it I have never grown out of it.
My second thing is I envied people who could draw a perfect line with a flick at the ends with eyeliner, I had a friend that did mine for me and when she moved away I was gutted I couldnt do it no matter how I tried it was a mess and again I still wish I could do it although I don't have much use for it now !
Do any of you wish and still do they could do something now that you were unable to then ?

I wish I could do my hair like I did in my teens.I used to put rollers in every night, and sleep in them.Don't think I could do that now.My hair was a bit longer when I was younger, and I used to style it differently everyday.Oh, and lets not forget all the backcombing. I'm sure my hair has got thinner as I've got older. Not bald yet though.

I used to have the same problem with eyeliner - could never get them to match! Also false eye lashes used to gradually come unglued! I would like to be able to play the piano - always think it must be a great stress reliever. Being able to paint pictures that others could recognise.

Whistling. I whistle all the time and always have done, but now my girls say I whistle like a Granddad!I can't whistle through my fingers like I used to but I can still do a mean owl hoot through my thumbs.
Like Shemadee I wish I had learned the piano, and I wish I could sing jazz.

I would have loved to play a musical instrument, the piano or harp or flute. Or to sing, but I have absolutely no talent in that area at all. I do love languages, learned basic Latin and can speak quite a lot of basic anything and did begin Japanese once.

I can whistle a bit but not through my fingers only kind of gently, under my breath and I was taught by a professional musician who could not believe someone of thirty four could not whistle! My dad whistled all the time.

I wear false eyelashes all the time, there is an art to it but if you have a sudden and dramatic reaction to hay fever as I did this week here in the UK or sit in the Caribbean sun for too long you can be in big trouble.

I can't do perfect flicks with eyeliner either. I am starting to think I am a bit useless....... BUT when we took the grandchildren to an urban farm recently I did a baa sound to a herd of goats and they ran hell for leather at us. Frightened the life out of me but husband and the kids thought it was extremely amusing.

Yes my hair is getting thineer but I have my Revlon stuff that I use which I am convinced helps but my hair is still thinner. After I had C of course it was thinner, when it grew back it was a different colour and texture but it is OK now.

I think I can still do most things that are important. It is the things I cannot control that make me mad.

I used to be able to whistle through my fingers but I can't understand why I can't do it now ?
I wish I could dance. Not just a waltz, but tap dance and the sort of dance where the dance partner would 'throw' me in the air and I would be able to bend my body into all wonderful, graceful shapes but that's never going to happen with my back !

I would love to be able to sing! I think it is the most wonderful talent.

This isn't something I wanted to be able to do, but to have - long hair!
My mum isn't a very 'girly' woman, never was, and saw no point in me having anything but short hair. I hated it, and longed for long locks. I spent much time as a little girl with an old net curtain clipped to my hair, pretending I had long hair

Once I reached 11 and secondary school, mum decided I was old enough to take care of my own hair so could grow it. From that day, almost 50 years ago, I haven't had it any shorter than it is now (shoulder length) From my early teens until late 30s it was waist length. I got my long hair in the end

I'd love to be able to touch my toes. They've always been out of reach and I've convinced myself I'm the wrong shape - my body's too short (and fat, but I'll gloss over that!)

The other thing I'd love to do is play alto sax. It would make up for not being able to sing!

I would love to have been able to do the splits when I was younger. Youngest granddaughter can do them for now.

It isn't fat stopping you from touching your toes Daisy because I can touch the floor in spite of my large shape. You have short arms and long legs.

Plant - thank you for that, my dear, dear friend! I do have longish legs. M&S regular trousers are always too short despite being a bit under 5'4"!

The thing I wish & wished for ........I wish I had better health. What I wished for was cash to have driving lessons & buy a car. It never happened. On reflection if I'd have got my wish of a car my life would be better now in the respect that I wouldn't be so restricted & be able to get out of the house more without depending on my OH taking me. I do use public transport but it's not as easy as having your own car. My OH said he could jazz up an electric wheelchair 'thingy' for me. You can imagine my reply! 😏
