Just wondering which of you are a Lark or an Owl? I wake up quite early and get up around 7.30 and go to bed around 10.30. I suppose that makes me more of a lark than a night owl. I have a friend who is up until around 1-2 in the morning and gets up around mid morning the next day. She always says that that is her natural body clock. What’s yours?

Fairy Queen - I think the world (or at least this country) is designed for you larks. I'm definitely an owl and would happily stay up till 12 or 1 am, but life in general doesn't make allowances for people who don't show their faces out of bed until 11 am! So over the years I've got used to getting up for things like work.
Oma - I think that makes you a b****y marvel. I don't know how you get by on so little sleep - or Nanto who has often prepped dinner before I'm awake.
I need about 8 hours sleep so I try and get to bed before mid-night, say 11.30 and get up when I wake up. The best thing about being retired is not having to set the alarm most days.

Erm, no idea! I can easily go to bed at 10 but that usually means I’m up again by 1am. If I go to bed at midnight I can sleep through till 8am. My mother used to say “every hour before midnight is worth two after”.
I like the wee small hours though, it’s so peaceful.Women are like tea bags; you never know how strong they are until they are put in hot water.

Thanks all for your replies- interesting to read how we are all different. Oma, I agree with Daisy you are a marvel! I would be a complete zombie and need at least 6 hours to function normally. My husband would be an owl as he likes staying up and getting up late ish but Daisy as you say his working life has not allowed for that pattern to develop and he’s too knackered now to sit up late! GM my Mum used to say exactly the same thing about the hours before midnight.

Fairyqueen,my mum also used to say the same about the hours before midnight, before I retired I was always up and ready to get on the road by 7.30 depending where I was working and in bed before 10pm as long as I got 6/7 good hours I was fine.
Since my John died I have been up much later of an evening and have become a TV addict of sorts and will not get up until about 8ish sometimes later.Keep Calm,You're Fabulous

My mum used to say that about hours before midnight as well.
Is it my imagination or did grown-ups go to bed earlier than they do now. Before telly, or when it closed down at 10 ish, and the fire went out, you'd go to bed, wouldn't you!"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "
