    Politics!

I was wondering about political allegiances, with local elections coming up.

No one has to say how they vote, of course, it's everyone's right to keep that private.
Do you vote the same way as your partner? The way your parents did? The way your children do?

My parents were staunch Conservatives. Mum still is. They were very active members of their local Conservative committee for many years. Dad played snooker at the Conservative Club every Friday night.

I would poke my eyes with a hot stick before I would vote Conservative. If I had to choose UKIP or Conservative I would vote Conservative, but not otherwise.
When I started to vote I voted Liberal. Then I changed to Labour. My ex OH was a keen Labour supporter. 2 of my 3 DDs are very active Labour supporters. I am not sure about the other as she is not as political as her sisters.

When I moved here 8 years ago I moved from an area were Labour were pretty much guaranteed to get in every time, to one where they have no chance. Tories get in, but with Lib Dems a close second. I started to vote tactically, voting Lib Dem to attempt keep the Tories out.
Then I started to deliver newsletters and leaflets to help out my friend who is a LIb Dem councillor and on the same committee I am on.
Then I read all we were distributing and realised that Lib Dems are doing all the work around here, all the Councillors are very active in the community.
I can't say I wouldn't vote Labour again if we were to move to a different area, but I am Liberal Democrat all the way for now
I hope we get in this time, partly to see what change of leadership in our area would be like.

Just seen this! I regard myself as ‘sensible left’. I dislike extremists of all persuasions and think that a much more equal and fair society is the only way to improve the lives of the people of the UK. That means a properly funded and run health service, education service and a rapid escalation in house building and elimination of bad landlords. Lots of other matters too, but these are main ones.
However, with the present voting system, where in only a few constituencies is ones vote likely to change the outcome, it’s no wonder people get cynical and disillusioned, so I feel that a system of Proportional Representation is the way to go. Then people could vote for the candidate whose views most closely resemble their own and then if there are ties the parties would have to work together to find a compromise without betraying their principles.

We are from a area that has always voted Labour but not anymore , most are now turning to UKIP or Lib Dem

I would never vote for a Party with Corbyn or Abbott in ,
As a Military family like all Military we consider Corbyn a traitor and IRA sympathiser so no way would we condone his government at all

Im still undecided who to vote for , it wont be Conservative or labour but that doesn't really leave much else does it ,

I don't want to waste my vote I think women before us fought hard for the right so we must maintain that right , but I believe in my humble opinion that no matter who we vote for , we will get a raw deal .
They all full of promises but at the end of the day they will do what's good for them not the common man ,
        We are damned either way
Im not fat just 6ft too small

I agree Sum1Ls, proportional representation would be a fairer system.

Sum1 I so agree about proportional representation though I fear it’s not likely to happen. So often individuals work really hard for their communities but are never elected because they are in the “wrong” party.
