What will you do for You this year?

This is a bit of an overlap with the New Year Resolutions thread, but maybe with more long term thinking!

What will we do for ourselves in the coming year? For our health, for our happiness, for our comfort?
Many of us are at the stage of spending some of our time looking after the younger or older generations, in some cases both.

The busier we are, the more important it is to take time out for ourselves I think. Our daughters and DILs are probably busier than we are, juggling jobs and childcare, but they are a generation younger than we are!

Last week I went to the cinema alone. I bought myself a coffee and settled down to watch a film I was keen to see. I felt revived when I came out!

This year I intend to see more films, either alone, with OH or with friends.
I intend to go back to an aquafit class. I haven't been for years since the pool I went to closed down.
I intend to sort my weight out. I lost half a stone last year. I have regained a few pounds over Christmas but not all of it, so it's back to it again.
I intend to walk more. For my weight, my health, and my mind. When I walked regularly it was a real mood lifter,
I intend to carry on my efforts to do things with my various groups of friends. At times I wish I didn't always have to be the one to set the ball rolling, but rather that than not do things!
I intend to paint more rocks and write more stories, for my creative side!

This last is more for my OH than me, although no doubt in the long run it will do me good.
    I intend to declutter more!!

I intend to go back to WW
      Stop impulse buying
I should try to at least walk a short distance in the village, just to the pond and village cafe would be good.

No idea yet Gem, though it’s nice to sit and think about it. 😁

It's something I think about, not just at New Year, but the actuality never match the intentions!

I want to walk in the forest and perhaps the beach more with Eva. We're a bit lazy taking her to the paddock - she gets a marvellous run but it's not a proper walk for us/me.

I've got so many ideas for art and pyrography designs and I really want to make time for doing these. I'm going to join a local art group in a couple of weeks. It sounds a bit like Enfys's - you just paint, there's no tuition, but apparently most people are more than keen to give you advice and suggestions! I've neglected my photography just lately, but I am determined to put that right. For me, there's nothing better than going out for a day with my camera. I forget about everything else and get totally immersed in what I'm doing, and thoroughly enjoy myself. The other night I was glancing through my photography files and was most drawn to the macro (close up) ones - so that's something I can target!

I'm making very slow progress with learning HTML, and I must give more time to it if I'm going to learn it properly.

There are lots of things on my list of "what I'd do if I had more time and energy" - calligraphy, pencil drawing, a writers' workshop, Spanish, knitting, swimming/aqua-fit classes, and so the list goes on!

If I do even half of this I won't have time to eat, so should hopefully lose some weight as well! Gem - you're going to be my inspiration. x

                Qwerty - good for you.

The trouble with cleaning is it can expand to take up all the time you allow for it. When I gave up teaching a lovely friend who was older, and wiser than me gave me the advice "don't let your house be any cleaner than it is today" - ie the amount of time I had to spend on it when I was working long hours!

Wise advice Daisy, there is more to life than cleaning.
Mind you, I think I did a bit more cleaning pre-internet!

Daisy, your list of things to do (for yourself) has worn me out just thinking about them. Well done you!
My plan for this year is to do more of what I want to do and less of what of I should do. Is that selfish? Yes, I hope so !!

I am going to follow Gemini in sorting my overweight problem not massive but becoming noticable and I have so many nice pieces in my wardrobe which are just too snug at the minute so longer walks with Dolly (Poppy does not enjoy walking she is a wee diva really)she enjoys going to pub with OH and sitting by the hearth whilst he has a beer with his pals.
Catching up with some old friends and making sure I go over to Liverpool Theatres to see a few of the really good productions that are put on by local groups.
Certainly this year I am going to make sure I do a meet-up with some of my Grans R Us pals something I not been able to manage as yet. xxx
