Wow I do envy you all that you have so many happy memories. In answer to your question Plant I think I've forgotten what it's like to be happy. Something always seems to happen to spoil what should be happy for me for some reason. Take my 1st GC being born. I couldn't wait but when he was born was told I wasn't able to see him for 2wks as they wanted to bond as a family. Fair enough but I felt so rejected.
After the births of my own DDs I was very ill, both were C-sections + being in an awful 'marriage' didn't help. I could go on but I'll stop there. Sad really."Good friends help you to find important things when you have lost them....your smile, your hope, and your courage."

Nana - I do feel for you that some of the very important days in your life have been marred.
I think happiness ness is often very fleeting and it’s not always easy to snatch and hold the moment. It’s nice warm day today and GD2 and I have just swept their patio. We had a lovely chat about the merits of the 2 sweeping brushes and the dustpan and brush, plus having a laugh at Cooper’s antics. Not much but it was lovely. Now they’re squabbling about what to have for lunch. Back to earth with a bump. 😆😆😆"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "

Nana, it is very sad that so many lovely times have been spoiled.
I think the way to go is to focus on what was happy .The first time you held your first grandchild. Happy times from your children's childhoods. The happy marriage you made later.
As Daisy days, little things in an ordinary day can make us happy 😊“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

That's a shame that you feel your happy times have all been spoiled. My OH didn't see his GS for over a month because he was in hospital, but it didn't spoil the happiness at seeing and holding him for the first time.
Try and find a little thing in the day that can bring you a bit of happiness.....getting the crossword right first time, making a cake that hasn't sunk in the middle, a friendly smile from a neighbour or the girl behind the checkout, being alive and being able to appreciate the birds singing or the sun shining and the blueness of the sky!, finding an old skirt still fits you when you thought it wouldn't! Little things can make us happy just as much as big things.
I do hope you can find something to make you happy and take some of your sadness away. As my Granny used to say : There's a lot of folk worse of than me!Believe you can and you're halfway there.

Apart from my wedding day and the birth of my children, I loved to walk in the Malvern Hills with OH, I could hear the sound of Elgar.s music and together with the lovely view made my heart swell with happiness. views still have that effect on me, shame I don't have one from our house. What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Nana - Plant is right. You're a kind and thoughtful person and bring happiness to others, so I really hope you can find some for yourself.
By the way - never feel you can't/shouldn't say what's on your mind - especially on here. xxx"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "
