Well, it never rains, as the saying goes.
As you know Gem and I have been beavering away in the background on the forum yesterday and today.
OH and friend, N, went to the allotment to harvest and plant. While they were out and I was on here, GS1 who is just 14 came into the room screaming his head off. Unflappable Grandma calmly asked what the matter was and to quieten down, and he'd done a somersault off the end of his bed and quite literally skinned his shin on the dressing table stool. He was close to hysteria, and I'm sure it must have hurt. I've never seen bare bone before on a wound.
I calmed him down a bit and rang his mum. She suggested savlon and a gauze dressing. I said I'd got individually wrapped antiseptic wipes so we decided to use those very gently first, and then put a tiny dab of Savlon Advanced Healing and a plaster strip. When OH and N came back, N said we should take him straight to the hospital - he's a first aider at work, but given GS's ASD etc I think that would be quite traumatic for him, and we certainly wouldn't merit any kind of priority in a busy A&E. It's a very small area - about a quarter of a small finger nail, so we're just waiting and keeping an eye on him. Hence the Temporary Chatbox, because I am quite shaken and finding it hard to concentrate on settings etc on the forum. It's different when we were dealing with our own children!
Then OH showed me what they'd got from the allotment - about 10 kg runner beans, 10-15 sweetcorn, tomatoes, lovely Anya potatoes, sprouts, cabbage and about 6 small carrots. So I'm off to the kitchen for a while to deal with the onslaught. Oh, and I need to portion up dog food today as well! I'll be back later. x"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "

Well done for keeping calm Daisy. Poor boy I expect it was the shock as well as the pain that made him so upset. I understand that A and E would be detrimental to a lad like him.I hope he is calmer now and your heart has stopped beating overtime.
I don't envy you prepping all that veg, though I'm envious you've got it.I can only just about cope with my prolific runner beans.

Daisy thanks for setting up this temporary chatbox. All our members are so lovely, I know they will bear with us until things are sorted. The important thing is that they can access the forum.
OUCH, poor GS, and poor you Daisy!! It's awful when something happens on or watch as grandparents. I hope it heals quickly.
We had a lovely time on the beach. We took a picnic lunch and our camping chairs, sat and watched the world go by, including several dogs having a lot of fun We also went for a long walk along the beach. I got my toes wet, but the water is too cold for anything else!
We decided to alternate a night eating in with a night out, so tonight is an eating out night. I am going to look up some local menus next.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Gem - glad you're having a lovely time. Hopefully I'll get back to the 'office' later tonight!
I've just had a look at GS1's war wound, and it has bled slightly, which I think is good, because there's now something to scab over! Sorry, hope nobody's squeamish!!! GS is currently in the summerhouse, soldering electrical things. Should I be worried?
Qwerty - I think he should do something safe like accountancy!

Big adventures in your house Daisy, hope the soldering went well.
I met my DIL and GS4 for lunch in a garden centre and caught up with their news, They are taking GS3 who is going to Birmingham Uni the same weekend we are meeting up. Good job we are not going the following weekend as it will be freshers week. Apparently his accommodation is going to cost 750 pounds a month, that is just a room and no food. He is doing a Masters which is 4 years plus a year in Industry. His brother GS4 is going to college at the same time but he will travel from home, they are going to be very poor. I cooked for my 2GD's this evening, DD and SIL on holiday again, they requested, Gammon, Lyonese Potatoes, Roasted Vegetables, Cauliflower and White Sauce. Fruit Salad with Yogurt. GD2 has gone back to London and GD1 is entertaining a young man, well she is 23.What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Daisy how is GS1 now ? I think a trip to A and E wouldn't have done anymore than you had done, plus all that waiting would have only upset GS1 even more. If it looks as if you want a second opinion on it you could always pop him to your local pharmacy and ask the pharmacist to have a look at it he/she would soon advise if he needs to see a Dr about it.
Did I miss an issue with chatbox 2 I didn't notice any gremlins, but then I not as technically advanced as our ladies on here who work hard to keep our forum up and running. Thankyou for setting up this temporary chatbox .
Yesterday I got really fed up with weather , in fact I had a little sulk about it, I wanted to sit out in the garden and enjoy the lovely flowers and just listen to the bees busy working while I read a book but consistent rain put an end to all thoughts of that. Are we ever going to get any summer I wonder ? (Personally I blame the kiddies, weather was lovely till the day they all broke up for the holidays) 😉😆
Hope every one is well and enjoy the day even if you have to do it in the rainBring me sunshine in your smile.

Good morning everyone. Another grey damp start to the working week. Nanto - it feels like autumn here as well.
Mimi - each part of the forum has settings to give maximum flexibility. Somehow the Daily Hello section would only let Admin and Mods post (how unfriendly is that!). Gem fixed it Saturday evening, but it 'went' again yesterday. I'm just getting Granny Mary, my little helper to check it out.
YES! Chatbox 2 seems fine, so please feel free to post on there. I'll leave this thread open for today (just in case) and then we can transfer these posts to Chatbox 2 tomorrow.

Oma - sorry it's confusing! Yesterday only Mods and Admin could post in Daily Hello/Chatbox 2. I had a crisis here (GS1) and Gem was out for the day, so I opened a temporary chatbox (ie this thread) just so people could post. Gem sorted it out when she got back so we are back to using Chatbox2 as usual. There shouldn't be any more problems with Chatbox2, but I've left this thread open for today, just in case. So post away on Chatbox2 and I'll close this thread tonight or tomorrow morning, all being well.
