I've finished 'Versions of Us' today. I won't make any comments right now - I think I need to digest it a little and form some opinions.
Has anyone else finished it - or given up on it?

Oh me too Daisy! It would have been easier in book form.
I finished a couple of weeks ago.
I wish I had read each version separately and in fact when I got 3 quarters of the way through the book, I then read version 1 to the end, then 2 then 3. Followed by the closing chapter. One day I will re read it with each version right through to the end.
I enjoyed the book and thought it very cleverly written. I felt however that it would make a better film than a book. I found it difficult to remember who was with who in each version.
I found it sad that he had to die in the same way in each book, I somehow hoped it would end differently in version 3, which was a fruitless hope as it always ends in the same way!
I almost gave up early on, and didn't look forward to reading each night, as I usually do, but got into it more as it went on. As I said, I think it was a clever book, but not easy to read and would probably benefit from a second reading.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Reading your comments, I couldn't get on with sorting the characters and returned it to Kindle. I have found that using Kindle and Audible it isn't easy to go back and re-read a section, it is easier with a book, so I found it very hard to remember the characters. I have gone back to an old favourite Echoes by Maeve Binchy and have loaded Circle of Friends as well. What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

I think I will definately read it again, must try and pick it up,from the library again. I really enjoyed it but I think it's certainly better to read the proper book than try it on kindle, I kept having to flick back and forth to remind myself who was who, or rather when was when
Plant, i really enjoy Maeve Binchy, they are my favourite books to read over and over.

I also wished I'd read all of Version 1, then all V2 etc, but I was about half way through when I thought about it. Like Gem, I got confused with some of the minor characters as well, especially the main character's parents, and then later on the various children.
I don't think I really 'got' the philosophy of how a person's life can change on a chance event or comment, because I was trying so hard to keep the three stories organised in my head. It was a bit like 3D snakes and ladders. I've moved on to a very short easy book and then I'm going to go back and read each version one by one, because I liked the story lines and would like to work out exactly what happened in each version. So, yes, a very intriguing book, cleverly written, but definitely needs to be read as a proper book, not Kindle."Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. Daisy, it isn't as difficult as you may think to read it on Kindle version by versions, as the full chapter list says Version 1, then the date or whatever and so on. It is just a matter of returning to the list at the end of each chapter and remembering which one you read last, but it is do able!“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown
