    Just finished The Suspicions of Mr Whicher for our book group. I really enjoyed it; it's a true story and very interesting from the historical point of view and also an intriguing story.

      Reading 'Not Dead Yet' by Peter James. Most of his books are set in Brighton and centre on Roy Grace a police detective. Like a good crime novel I do!!!

          I love the luxury of having time to read a book For many years, with small children to look after, and a job, sometimes 2, there never seemed to be time, except on holiday. I did often read magazines then, as you can pick them up and dip in without losing the thread. I have a busy life now but I do have time to read, if only in bed at night

            I have read many books over the summer some good, some indifferent a couple I had to give up on!
            I have just finished The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters.
            As with all her books you are right in the story from the start. Tense, grittily real in parts, a good read, I had to read the last few chapters really quickly to find out how it would end. I really couldn't see it ending any way but badly.
            I won't comment on the end in case anyone reads it!

              At present I am reading Little Mercies by Heather Gudenkauf.

              It is about a busy social worker, mother of 3, specialising in children cases. All goes dramatically wrong when there is an accident concerning her baby, and she is in danger of not being able to see any of her children. Alternate chapters are written from the mothers viewpoint and that of a 10 year old girl, inadvertently separated from her father, searching for her Grandma, and doing anything she can to avoid being put into care.
              I am about a quarter of the way though and the 2 stories have just intertwined.. I am enjoying it and finding it hard to put down!

              * finished it now

                I am reading 'The Lie' by C.L. Taylor. All I will say is it improves the more I read. It jumps from five years ago to the present day constantly but is necessary to the story.

                                I have recently read Room by Emma Donaghue. I have seen the trailer for the film a couple of times at the cinema. I couldn't wait to go to see it so bought the book on Kindle. I will probably go and see the film version too.

                                It is a book which stayed with me and still has me thinking about it.
