What a bout something lighthearted/funny to cheer us through the dark dismal days of post-Christmas and New Year gloom? Or would you all prefer something more 'meaty'?

I think the light-hearted option is a good one Daisy.Preferably not a slushy, lovey one for me but I'm happy to go with the flow.Nothing springs to mind at the moment though!

Gervase Phinn or the other man who writes about schools? They were very popular with my reading group.

Jack Sheffield! This book was one of the few that went down well with all our members!

Shem - that sounds interesting. I've read most of Gervase Phinn's books, but not Jack Sheffield.

I've enjoyed Geevaise Phinn too, not heard of Jack Sheffield.

Plant - I love Miss Read, too!

I'm off to look at Jack Sheffield book(s) right now.

There's a series of 9 'Teacher' books by Jack Sheffield. The first one in the series starts with the newly appointed head of a C of E Primary School in Yorkshire. It's called "Teacher, Teacher" and it's £4.99 on Kindle and £7.99 in paperback.

I would be happy with "Teacher, Teacher". Also likely to be available in libraries, at least in ours!

Me too, sounds as if it is not too demanding.
