    The Book Club revisited!

Now most of our summer holidays are over, there is time for a Book Club read before Christmas.

Last time was most disappointing with just Minnystring and myself in the discussion, although one or two more added their comments later.
So, I think we should try something a bit different this time. We can agree on a book, agree a time scale to be finished by, then add our comments onto the thread, rather than try to have a 'live' chat/discussion. These only work if several people can commit to the same time. I think a discussion run in the way every other thread runs will work well. I suggest we try it this time, and if we don't like it, revert to the live discussion.

    Any suggestions?

Gemini - I think that's a good idea! I think it will lead to a more in-depth discussion as well, where people can make considered comments and read other posters' comments more fully. I always find the 'live chat' format a bit of a scramble - and I can type quickly. Heaven help those who type with 2 fingers! So yes, I'm all for it.

I haven't got a particular book in mind, but if anyone has any ideas it would be great.

        I'm up for that.
I've taken part in every one apart from the last one.I think I was tied up with something when it started and didn't catch up and get round to it.
If I'm slow reading the new one I'll have to avoid the thread until I've nearly finished as i wouldn't want to stumble across any "spoilers"!

This is a book I have on my Kindle to read at some point. It was recommended to me.

Just checking - is this the Thornfield Hall by Jane Stubbs? There's also one by Emma Tennant.

I have to admit to being a great big scaredy cat! The mad women in Jane Eyre gave me nightmares when I read it in my teens! I hope I'm braver now.

Yes, Clover, I think you will make it our choice, as we have no other suggestions.

So, it's Thornfield Hall, by Jane Stubbs
