    Borrowbox

For those of us bookworms, I have just discovered Borrowbox. It’s a free service run by local libraries where you can sign up and borrow ebooks and audio books. I found a good range of books a available, although some of the really popular ones have a waiting list, and for a free service it’s really good and useful if you can’t get to the library. You can renew or return easily too. Just thought I’d pass this on in case you’re interested.

This is a good thing for book readers isn't it.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Enfys - that sounds a brilliant idea. Do let us know how you get on.

I hope this isn't a silly question, but are the audio books streamed to a phone, or on CD?

Daisy, the ebooks and audio books are streamed to your devices. I have it on my phone and iPad, I listen to the audiobooks in my phone and use my iPad to read the ebooks. If I go for a walk it’s easy to pop my phone in my pocket and listen to my book as I’m walking.

Enfys, I have used something like this. I think it was called Liberty.

Gem, there use to be a similar idea called RB digital, but the libraries stopped using it. This is more user friendly too.

Enfys, thanks for explaining. My poor old iPad has finally finally given up working at all, but I've decided to replace it with a laptop. But audiobooks on my phone would be great, and I've got a Kindle which I keep stocked with books.

I still prefer reading a proper book, can't get used to reading on a tablet! And listening is no good....I'd have to take the hearing aids out to plug in earphone and I probably wouldn't be able to hear anything then!!!

However, I can see the attraction and the accessibility of the scheme. I don't think it's available in my local library at the moment.

WeeGranny - after making my earlier post about having audiobooks on my phone, I realised the same thing. I wonder if there's any way of sending the audio through to the hearing aids via my iphone?
