    Books you recommend

Daisy was asking for suggestions for books to read, so here are mine.

Last year I LOVED Three Hours by Rosamunde Lupton. Very tense and really good.

Some others I have enjoyed recently are

The Long, Long Afternoon by Inga Vesper

The Girl at The Back of The Bus by Suzette D Harrison

    Unfollow Me by Charlotte Duckworth

    Never Greener by Ruth Jones

    Inheritance by Jenny Eclair

The Switch by Beth O Leary

The Last Piece by Imogen Clark

I was going to put some of Gem's recommendations on my Kindle last night, only to find the battery too low! I've put it on charge, so can browse around later and choose some good reads.

        All recommendations are welcome. xx

Read Many Different Kinds of Love by Michael Rosen. It’s so moving and beautifully written. An account of his illness and recovery from Covid. It includes the diary written by the ICU nurses when he was in a coma.

I expect everyone knows who he is, but if you don’t, he’s Professor of children’s literature at Goldsmiths (where I was a tutor) and very distinguished author and broadcaster.

Sum1 - thank you for that. I remember reading about Michael Rosen's battle against Covid, and I think it will be a very evocative and thought-provoking read.

Did you work with him at all? If so, it must have been very interesting.

Yes, he is just brilliant and incredibly funny. His MA students produced most excellent work.

That must have been a great experience, Sum1. Have any of his students become full-time authors?

I know it's not easy - my niece/God daughter did her MA in Creative writing for young adults. She's had various pieces (mainly short stories) published, but I do think she chose a particularly difficult genre.
