Britains most historic towns. Channel 4.

I recorded this on Saturday night, and just watched it. This episode was Chester.
It was very interesting. Hope the rest of the series is as good.
The next episode is York, which might be of interest to Gemini.
I've set the recorder to record the whole series.

I’ve done the same! Missed the first 10 minutes but found it very interesting.

Was that with Tony Robinson Nanto ? Think OH was watching that while my mind was elsewhere......probably on a sunny beach!

No, WeeGranny, it was presented by a young female professor called Alice Roberts.

I must watch this on catch up. I worked in Chester at one time - my office was on the Rows in Eastgate Street - just by the Victorian clock. Such an interesting city with lots of contrasts, but haven't been back there for well over 10 years.

Plant - it feels like that sometimes, Plant - we were moving every 18-24 months for a long time. We lived in two places convenient for Chester - north Wales and the Wirral.

I have this on catchup as obviously I love Chester I used to go to Barrets Head Office there every Monday morning and walk up from The Dee to the office,it was the only place to leave your car and you had to get there early to park and grab a spot, when we had finished our meeting during the Summer months we would meet by the River front and enjoy an ice cream before going back to our building sites for the day.

Happy memories, Glamm. Our treat in the office was cakes from Quaintways!

Daisy, I can taste those cakes when I think back such a lot of lovely food shops my favourite was the small deli who did all the cheeses we would be spoilt for choice.

                            Oh, yummy.

Do you remember a Weigh and Save shop - where you could weigh out exactly how much you wanted - store cupboard ingredients, nuts etc? I think it was in Frodsham Street?
