    Mrs Dales Diary

The Archers was mentioned on the midwife thread,
I still listen to it sometimes.

Can anyone remember Mrs Dales Diary, later renamed The Dales.
It used to be on in the afternoon, then repeated the next morning.
I used to listen to it in the morning.

And who can forget Workers Playtime and Music while you work.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Nanto - I can remember Mrs Dale's Diary, although my mother never listened to it. I can remember friends' mothers having it on.

I can still remember the theme tunes for Workers Playtime and Music while you Work. I always pictured rows of people working in the weaving sheds of the mills for some strange reason, and the music blaring over the tannoy. I've no idea where this picture came from.

I also remember a radio soap opera called Waggoners' Walk. I think it was the townie's version of The Archers.

Am I right in thinking her name was Mary and her husband was called Jim ?

My mum used to listen to Mrs Dale’s Diary and the Archers. I remember Children’s Hour with Uncle Mac and family favourites. I think that was mainly for the military serving in Germany and occasionally it would include Cyprus or Aden. We used to love Journey Into Space and Children’s Hour. I wonder what the grandchildren would make of our childhood? Totally different!

“I’m worried about Jim.” I remember that as Mary’s saying.
Do you remember Children’s Newsreel? Dick Barton, Special Agent? Sooo exciting.

I remember it from my childhood. Mum listened to it, so it was on, but I didn't actually follow it myself.

I remember something called Waggoners Walk too, which mum listened to. When my first baby was born we gave her a fairly unusual name, for 42 years ago anyway. We lived with my in laws for while, and one of the neighbours asked us if we named the baby after the baby in Wagonners Walk! As neither of us had ever listened to it no we didn't !

My ex OH and I started to follow the Archers when we were in our late 20's, and never missed it. I am still hooked and I imagine he is too. We are both now married to non Archers Addicts!

Another Archers fan here, I record the Omnibus edition on a Sunday morning and fit in listening to it when I can.
