Beautiful - and romance is alive and well

As many of you know, we went to see "Beautiful" the Carole King musical last night.

I was expecting lots of good music - she has written such a wide variety of songs over the years - and I wasn't disappointed. The singer taking the part of Carole was absolutely brilliant with an amazing powerful voice. So many of the songs took me right back in time. It's a bit shocking though that you find you can remember all the words to s song that's over 50 years old! What kind of a misspent youth did I have!!!

The production was excellent with the story of Carole's early years interspersed with her music.

I was struck by the variety of songs she wrote - from her first success - Will you Love me Tomorrow, via The Locomotion, Up on the Roof, We Gotta Get out of this Place, you've Lost that Loving Feeling, One Fine Day .... I could go on and on.

As always I managed to sit behind the biggest fidget in the theatre. Her head kept wobbling from side to side, and if I didn't wobble the other way I couldn't see anything on the stage!

And the romance? Awww ..... at one point my not very romantic OH's hand crept over to hold mine in a lovely warm clasp. The song? "You've got a Friend". Who says you can't be romantic after 50 years of marriage!

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Aww Daisy that gave me that warm/ fuzzy feeling... a lovely romantic moment. ❤

One of my old time favourites is James Taylor (was he married to CK at some stage?). It was one of his many hits. I was fortunate enough/thrilled even to see him live about 5yrs ago. He still had it.

You need a sign to take to the theatre. "You can only sit in front of me if you keep your head perfectly still".😉 I'm so pleased you enjoyed yourself.

Awwww Daisy, what a wonderful night. I don't think some people realise just how many hit songs she wrote.
Your hubby's romantic gesture was the icing on the cake.

Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

One of my friends saw Beautiful not long ago and really loved it Daisy. She kept telling me and our other friends that we must see it!
It sounds as though you had a lovely evening

Regarding Nanas sign suggestion, I would like one saying 'Tall people please sit at the back, not in front of me!'

A superb evening Daisy I don't know anyone who doesn't like her music , it was said that Neil Sedaka was in love with her before he married of course that's why he wrote Oh Carol one of my faves but yes I think she was married to James Taylor at one time , it's funny how certain songs can bring back our youth guess Mr D was reminiscing over the love you've shared all these years ❤️

What a lovely evening Daisy. Another Carole King fan here, I'd be able to sing along too, so pleased you enjoyed it.

OH's touch of romance has made me think how nice it is when we show appreciation - whether it's to family, friends or even someone in a shop who does that extra bit to serve you.

Plant - neither of us is romantic - we both forgot our first wedding anniversary until my MIL phoned to say she hoped we were going somewhere nice that evening! LOL

But just occasionally OH does or says something extra special.

Daisy can I say Tapestry is the most played CD in this household and has been since I first bought the LP all those years ago,"You've got a friend" is my favourite of all her songs I must make an effort to see the production if it comes to Liverpool.

It's coming here soon and we have booked. I'm glad to hear it lived up to expectations Daisy, though I don't expect OH will old my hand or anything else! Well maybe an ice cream....

GM - I hope you've booked the back row, then you can canoodle like teenagers! And hopefully still get the ice cream.

I'd be interested to know what you think of it as well.

Glamm - it's on at the Empire from 1st May to 5th May 2018. Also in Manchester at the Palace Theatre from 12 December 2017 to 6 January 2018. If you Google "Beautiful - Tour dates" you can book online. It's well worth going to if you like her music. It's lovely both the LP and the CD have seen good service.
