I enjoyed the books, but you could watch this without having read any of them.

Gem, I've heard quite mixed reviews, but having either read the books or seen the production. I must add it to my ever-growing "To Watch" list though, and find out for myself.

Many were complaining the plot was different, Coopers Chase wasn't how they imagined it, etc!
It is always the way with book adaptations, you cant expect everything to be as in the book.

Gem, I think that's true of any book adaptation. When I'm reading a book, I have pictures in my mind of how the characters look and sound, and the background of the location. That's bound to be different in a film version, no matter how true to the book it is.

I'm glad you enjoyed it - a bit of escapism I would imagine. xx

We watched it last night. I have not read the books so it was new to me. I thoroughly enjoyed the film.

I didn't enjoy the first book, so haven't been tempted to read any of the others! Don't think I'll be watching the film!

FYI, a lot of it was filmed in the area around where Plant and I live!

WeeGranny, it's always interesting to see places you recognise in films, etc. At least you've tried the first book, I haven't even done that.
