    The Detectorists

Here I am recommending yet another TV programme!

They're not metal detectors, they're detectorists. Misfit friends Lance and Andy comb the fields of Danebury for hidden treasure and a change of fortune.

This is actually from a few years ago, but we were unaware of it. A couple of OH's golf pals recommended it and we have now watched all 3 series and enjoyed it a lot.
It didn't sound very interesting when OH first described it to me, but we loved it.

On a Friday when hubby meets his pal, they usually have a chat with a family, who are all detectorists.

Hubby used to have a metal detector.
Many years ago,one of his sisters lost her wedding ring while gardening.
He took his metal detector and eventually he did find it.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Gem, I don't think I've seen the 3 series in total, but I loved it as well. I could easily watch it all again, in fact I would like to. I enjoyed the humour and the characterisation of Andy and Lance and seeing how they cope with a world that they are not in step with and don't really understand. A lovely series.

Nanto, our posts crossed. Well done to your OH for finding his sister's wedding ring.

My OH was a keen detectorist and often helped the local archaeological society as well as hunting for his own treasure. He found a few valuable things which were declared as they must be and are now in museums.
I did watch the TV series and enjoyed it, not quite true to life but pretty close!

Clover, how interesting - I didn't know G was a detectorist, and he must have been quite an expert to have found such valuable and interesting items.
