    Ian Wright: Home Truths

Did anyone else watch this programme this evening?

Very powerful and extremely upsetting at times, about his childhood and growing up in an abusive family.

I have only watched half of it so far. There were so many children affected in this way and probably still are.

Ian W is still carrying the anger from how he suffered at the hands of his stepfather and also sadly his mother. Thank goodness he had good teachers.

Plant - it was such a leaky-eye moment when his much-loved teacher surprised him at the football ground. Someone had told him that the teacher had passed away, so you can imagine how emotional that was.

Hmm I didn’t watch it although I heard him interviewed on Desert Island Discs. He certainly had a grim start in life and seems to have settled down. But - he has children all over SE London. I taught one of them, poor soul, quite neglected, v proud or his dad whom he never saw and I think he was just one of many. I often think of him and hope he made good in the end.

I believe he has been married four times.

Sum - how sad for those children. I hope the little boy overcame the neglect and has built himself a happy life.
