    Strictly

Did anyone see start of the series tonight?

I'm not usually a big fan, preferring Dancing On Ice. OH watches both and I just dip in and out of Strictly.

This time I am watching it. We need some light and colour in these dark times, and this will help to cheer up winter.
They have certainly gone to great lengths to make is all possible and safe.
I don't think my favourite professional Oati will be there for long, partnered with Bill Bailey.
The pretty young guy from band looks as though he will be good.
    I'm rooting for Nichola Adams.

We always used to watch Strictly. Ut went off it for the last few years. I think I shall dip in and out on catch up,the. I can fast forward all the tedious chat and just watch the dancing. Just watched a bit in i player so I could see who was who and I think my favourite will be Nichola, the boxer. She came across as a lovely person and I like her dance partner too. Some of the other I didn’t know at all ☹️

Oma I get the impression you’re not too keen on these “celebrity” shows 😀😀😀 but I’m inclined to agree with you to some degree!
However I do like to watch the actual dancing on Strictly.

In a similar vein these so called “sports stars” actors etc who get awarded National honours from the Queen for doing what they love also makes me cross. However I know some of them do do a lot for charity which we may not be aware of ,in which case they deserve the awards. Easy to tar everyone with the same brush I suppose.

The costumes are so lovely, and I like watching them transform throughout the time. Especially on Dancing on Ice which takes so much skill to stay upright on the ice, let alone smile and perform a routine!

I do watch Strickly but have never watch programmes like Only Way is Essex, I think those sort of programme are popular with the younger generation.

Gem you cant deny the skill that it takes i would love to ice skate or dance like that , but why must it always be celebrities
Teach members of the public ,
Its the same with Who do you think you are , these people have money to pay for their own research into family history ,
Give Joe Blogg's on the street the opportunity ,

Clover dont even get me started with the Honours list
Oh im a right grump today hahaha

I will drop into Strictly when it gets near the final weeks I enjoyed the week at Blackpool but I wonder if they will do it this year?
As to Celebrity's and the spin-offs from the likes of Essex & Housewives etc who on earth can just up sticks and go away on a girly holiday at the drop of a hat totally unbelieveable.
I can't bear the Gemma Collins "Diva" programmes such an embarrassing person imo.
Joey Essex was very amusing when he first came on screen but now the enjoyment has worn off no one could be that dim (sorry Joey) you would as Oma says find more enjoyment from someone on the Street of any Town. (mrs meldrew signing off) xx

Oma, I could have made the same posting ! I haven't the patience to watch anything like that, the Dutch TV is the same, all those "false"people, I won't even call them stars. I have watched Strictly, a few years, a bit like Glamm, catch it for the last few shows. I don't recognise any of the contestants anyway.
                          Gumpy old age!!!!

We’ve been recording it to avoid the drivel. I enjoy watching the progress made especially when it’s unexpected. I don’t recognise the majority of contestants as I don’t watch the right programmes!

Same here, Shem - I only recognised about 3 'celebrities'.

But it is good to see the progress they make. I actually think it's better without a proper audience - I hate all the manic cheering and shouting.
