    TV this week. (Films)

Just had a flick through the TV supplement. If you haven’t read ‘The Help’ by Kathryn Stockett it is on BBC2 at 11.45pm, so one to record. It is a really good book and here’s hoping the film does it justice. Also I see ‘Quatermass and the Pit’ is on Freeview Tuesday. I bet we all remember hiding behind the settee when this was on in the 50s. I am tempted to watch it because I know it will amuse me greatly. 😆
I will be a golf widow next week, hence the need for amusement.

I watch a lot of films on Sky .I never used to watch hardly any but over the years with more spare time on my hands I have sorted drifted into it. It started a while ago when Sky had an offer on . I was able to add the Sky cinema package to my contract a very little cost but now that they have hooked me in as it were the cost has gone up and I am well and truly hooked. Obviously the monthly subscription has now increased.
OH likes the old black and whit films on the free channels whereas I like the greater choice Sky had to offer . I watched the new Orient Express with Judy Dench and in the middle of the month her other film Victoria and Albert is on so I have set the Sky box to record it

The Help book and the film are very good, wouldn't mind seeing it again. I watch a lot of TV in the evenings, only sport in the day (except football and motor racing)

Thanks. I'll look out for this. I remember Quatermass scaring me so much as it was my 1st thriller film. 😱

Mimi... our Sky payments were going up & up. Think it got to nearly a hundred. OH rang them saying he had been a good customer for yrs but was thinking of quiting. After a lengthy discussion they tailored it to our needs & he got it reduced to £40+.

Gem - yes we did have it as a book club choice. (For those who haven't come across this, it's set in the American South at the time of the race riots.)

I also remember having a very interesting conversation with an American friend (very sadly on longer with us) who grew up in the Bible Belt, and remembered the first black girl to go to her school. She would always talk to her because most of the other students were very rude and horrible to her. I haven't seen the film, but will try to watch it on catch up.
