    Very proud!

One of DD3s best and oldest friends is having her first book published, and it is already longlisted for the Man Booker Prize!
DD and this friend met aged 11, when they appeared in York mystery Plays together and have remained friends ever since.

I have ordered a Kindle copy, and look forward to reading it

Gem - many congratulations to DDs's friend - it sounds a very interesting novel, and really wonderful to get such early recognition by being long-listed. Fingers crossed she gets through to the Short list.

My Goddaughter/niece writes fiction for teenagers and she's had quite a few stories published in anthologies etc. I'm so looking forward to her writing her first full-length novel.

Congratulations to the young lady. To get a book published is no mean feat but to be on the list for the Man Booker prize is even better.

She is a very clever young lady, from an academic family.

One of my main memories of her is one school holiday when she spent 2 days on our sofa playing a Harry Potter game on the PlayStation. My DD kept going off and coming back, but F just played on, attempting to defeat the troll, for 2 days, pausing only to eat and go to bed. I began to fear she may become a permanent fixture

Nana very kindly drew my attention to this new article.

Catapulted from anonymity to literary stardom, the 29-year-old from York talks about her sylvan debut novel, Elmet, and how it was fuelled by her anger at inequality

Fiona was interviewed on Womens Hour last week too, but I was out and haven't managed to hear it on i player yet

Wow - that means she will get lots of media attention which will help her sales figures, but apart from that she must be really thrilled. It does sound like a really interesting and unusual read - clever girl.

I know, amazing for her first book and so young She and her girlfriend are getting married this year , so a happy time for her!

It is interesting, and unusual, Not the type of book I would have chosen to read if I didn't know the author, but very well written.
