The lady from the HA arrived on Friday pm and inspected our property and was very impressed she told us that there had been 195 applications for the bungalow which was a tremendous shock to us,with it being in such a sought after area she said they have to be 100% certain the tenant will "respect" the property and keep it nice which I can understand so there is one more hoop we have to get over, she took loads of photos lounge/bedroom/kitchen/bathroom etc even pics inside the cloakroom/ironing store and was impressed they where all neat & tidy these pics will be shown to the housing manager on Wednesday at their allocation meeting and the formal offer will be made then,I feel more than certain we will be lucky but this process was never discussed before, they are classing our move as an exchange not a new tenancy so they have to be sure we are not the kind of tenants who would not look after a property and the fact we have been here so long and its so well decorated and presented has got to win over the manager (so near yet so far).
Another thing is that with it being classed as an exchange we will have to remove all the wooden floor throughout fill and paint all holes made by picture/mirror hangings remove the chandeliers from every room and take out the wall light in the hall/remove all curtain poles and blinds, she got me to sign all the consent forms with regard to this which makes me feel we will have passed this last hurdle. Our lounge is small but nice and cosy and the HA officer was impressed throughout the apartment so I am sure she has to put in her own report.

What a lovely cosy home Glamma!
I'm sorry you have extra work due to it being classed as an exchange, but once you are where you want to be it will be worth it

That is a shame you have to take up the lovely wooden floor, the next occupant would probably lie it left.

The lounge looks lovely Glam. I love the pointy chest and the coffee table. You obviously have the knack of dressing a room. I leave ours to OH, he likes to think he is laying out a store...😁😁 once a retailer always a retailer. 🙄
It seems madness to remove the floor. Can you re-use it in your new home?

GM as has been said it's awful to have to rip up the floor just for the sake of a few rules. I can hardly believe it.

Shame about your flooring looks lovely, such a waste, I bet the next tenant would love it, my friend had to do the same thing, said it was due to "health and safety"..

It would seem much better to leave the flooring. If they prefer carpet, they can carpet over it, and if they like it they can just add their own rugs!

The flooring has been down for over 8 yrs and the reason the HA lady gave was that it can be noisy downstairs for the underneath tenant surely they would realise older tenants have respect for noise and supply good underlay etc and not to dance the flamenco every night, she did mention it could be a trip hazzard to someone,my boys have looked at it and decided that it can be refitted in the bedroom of bungalow so that will be a bit of saving on new flooring
