New job for daughter!

    New job for daughter!

Some of you may remember that my eldest daughter gave up work about 18 months ago, to spend more time with my GS, her only child, who was growing up fast.
He will soon be 4, and will be startng pre school in September. A little more money would be useful, so with him starting preschool she applied for a job.
Her previous job was in a town over an hour away, with lots of responsibility and staff below her. This is a part time role nearer to home, 2 and a half days a week, with far less responsibility. Just what she wanted!

She had her interview today, and wasn't sure how it had gone. It is 9 years since she had a interview.
When she was dropping GS off with me, they rang and ofered her the job
As long as they are flexible enough to fit in with childcare, she will take it. They will talk to her about hours etc.
She is away overnight at an ex colleague's leaving do, now she has even more reason to celebrate!

Lovely news and it will probably do her good to get out and talk adult talk as well. Fingers crossed she gets the flexibility she needs, sure she will.

That's great news Gem. It sounds ideal. She obviously made a big impression.

So well done to your DD Gems and well done for her making the decision to stay home with her little man for those extra months it will have done them both the world of good,my DD has always returned to work when little ones have started school/playschool and enjoys the best of both worlds she now works full time in the same job that I do but at a much bigger shop with far more responsibility and staff she reckons it keeps her fit and sane,I can't say that for my feeling though lol.

Just to update you on this.
DD accepted the job, and they were very accommodating of her childcare needs.

She will work all day Monday (SIL will drop GS at preschool, I will collect him at lunch time and look after him here, giving him lunch and tea. DD will collect him after work) She will work Tuesday morning, hopefully from home. (GS will be at preschool) Her 3rd day is Thursday all day (GS will have a full day at nursery, which he already does on that day) So it will all work well. They also agreed that when she needs to go to London for a day, she will always have plenty of notice.
They have been very fair, and I'm glad it will work out for her.
