    Things to Cheer us up

It seems most of us are pretty fed up at the moment - yet another lockdown, winter weather and other problems for many of us.

So this is the place to tell us something cheerful - something you've seen, heard about, or thought about.

Come on, ladies - give us a reason to smile.

What made me think of this, was something that cheered me up this afternoon. About 4 pm I decided to take Eva for a walk in the woods. I needed some fresh air and exercise and I noticed it was still light enough to venture into the Forest. By the time I'd got Eva and my coats on etc and driven up the road to a Forest car park it was 4.10. We got back to the car at 5 o'clock exactly and although it was dark, there was still light in the sky - enough to pick out the path and avoid puddles, fallen branches etc. The darkest nights are over, and we can start looking forward to longer days.

The thing that made us smile ,
Yesterday looking out of the sitting room window and two pigeons were have a right go at each other at the bottom of our drive , wings flapping jumping at each other etc ,
Two of next doors cats were sitting on the low wall between our drives just watching all this , they were no more than 3 feet from the birds but just sat there ,
Then one ( Haggis) turned to the other and I swear if he had spoke he would be saying well Hamish what's that all about ? , The other cat really looked like he shrugged and said lord knows ,

We laughed our heads off and then we made a conversation up they were having
The pigeons flew off and the cats still never attempted to get them .

Little things please little minds so they say
By the way They are really called Haggis and Hamish
Im not fat just 6ft too small

What a lovely idea for a thread Daisy

At the moment we really do have to take each day as it comes, and look for the positives. It's easy to get bogged down in all the negative stuff isn't it? There certainly is enough of that!

Daisy nights getting lighter make me very happy every year - but this year more so. A lovely thing to notice and celebrate.
Fabulous account of Hamish and Haggis Oma

Yesterday morning we took down the living room Christmas tree. It has been there since late November. Our cat, Henry loved sitting right behind the tree in the corner. He must have found it dark and cosy. Several times we have been unable to find him anywhere then realised he was asleep behind the tree!
Yesterday he kept sitting in the empty space looking at 'his' corner. Why we ever changed our minds about having a tree with handy cat den is beyond him!

I love to watch the squirrels trying to get nuts from the bird feeder. They really are contortionists! They haven’t really mastered getting food from the bird table, so no one goes hungry.

Walking down my drive this morning I noticed next door’s camellia has a flower on it! Really lovely to see, theirs are always early but I’ve not seen them this early before. A lovely sign of better weather to come.

I received a bunch of daffodils from the Scilly isles this morning from a friend. That really cheered me up as I'm feeling very down at the moment. Will write about the reasons, once I've got my head sorted out! Another reason for cheerfulness is that the sun is shining, bitterly cold but lovely blue sky!

Enfys = what a joy to see a beautiful camellia so early.

WeeGranny - I'm so sorry you're feeling down, but what a lovely friend to send you beautiful spring daffodils. Now the £1 bunches are in the supermarket I treat myself to one or two every week. It's much better for me than a bottle of wine. Sending hugs. xx

It is early Enfys for the camellia. DS1 has a lot of camellias in his garden, but they don't flower until February.

WeeGranny, sorry to hear you are feeling down, but the flowers must have been lovely to receive.

I buy daffodils every week from the supermarket. They are such an inexpensive cheery spring flower. I have got a few in the garden that are just starting to flower. So lovely 🌼

We have recorded The Yorkshire Shepherdess, Amanda Owen. I find it both calming & funny. There's always something funny happening with her very large family.
