Year before last 1 x son was 40, last year other two sons were 40. This year 2 x dils and 1 x partner are 40. Iam 60.
We gave the boys money towards things they were doing to celebrate. All the girls and their friends who are all around the same age have been paying into an account for the last two years to get a collective present they want from the fund and also have an amount toward a celebration each.
First 40th celebration is 3rd May (Ben's mummy) and will be at the place we had identified for my 60th birthday lunch. We shall still do it there, it was just a coincidence that dil chose the same place. It is convenient for several reasons, it is easy to get to, it is on the edge of a big green (Twickenham Green) where the children can play and most importantly the food and service is excellent. DIL is taking the whole place over, I shall just have a big table for family in August, I do not want a big party or anything like that.
Yesterday I ordered £52 worth of L'Occitaine products for her in a pretty hamper which I will collect on Tuesday when I am in town for a meeting. She loves the products. The bonus is that there is a free gift that comes with it with things that I love so that is a little gift for me as well! When I was in the shop a couple of months ago I was given some shaving balm and after shave balm samples which I took on holiday for husband to use. He loved it. While I was on line ordering the present he asked me to order him some of the shaving stuff. I had to pretend I didn't hear as I already have both items gift wrapped and hidden for a wedding anniversary present (9th May).
Another celebration will be end of April when we get the freehold of the flat, and November when we will make our last mortgage payment!!!
