Driving test!

As well as today's royal wedding, and Nan2's parents in laws anniverarsay, it is also the 14th anniversary of me passing my driving test!
This was a big thing for me at almost 50, as I was afraid of the idea of driving all my adult life . I am so glad I did it. My life now, with the GC living a half hour drive away and mum needing me, would be so difficult if I was not a driver.
It is one of the things I am proud of doing

Gemini I was 33 when I passed my test at the first attempt much to the surprise of my hubby,I didn't tell him when I took the test I just rang him at work and told him whilst he was on his lunch break he has never got over it.
I decided to drive to take youngest son to school when he was first at prep school and the bus route meant that we would have to travel by 2 buses and with the thought of winter months without my own transport as hubby worked shifts I decided it was time I had to have a go myself,I used to get my instructor to collect me from work and take my lesson on the way home which gave me quite a lot of confidence as it was always rush hour through a busy town something which got through the test I think.
My first car was a little mini which I bought for £375.00 I have always had a love for them ever since I would like to have one now but I don't think I would ever get one which was under £7K now as they are so popular and expensive.

i cant imagine not being able to drive. I started to learn when I was 17, but then had to put it on hold after my dad died. Then my friend had just passed her tes5 and her dad said he’d lend her his car for us to go on holiday provided she wasn’t the only driver. So that wa# the impetus I needed.

As none of my grandchildren had been born then (GD arrived 5 years later) I felt it was the most wonderful moment of my life, after the births of my 3 children. I was on cloud 9, as it took me 4 attempts to pass!
I was so happy, proud and relieved - much as you feel when you have given birth

I passed my test first time when I was 26, the impetus for me to drive was after my OH was admitted to hospital with a mysterious illness, I had two children and it took two buses for me to get to visit him and visiting hours were very strict times. Our car at the time was an Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire and the tester was so impressed with the motor I think that was part of the reason I passed. We couldn't afford lessons, OH taught me to drive his precious car.

My brother (who used to take me out to practise in his mini pick up) said I only passed because I was wearing pink bell bottoms and a skimpy shirt. He said this because I had sat through 3 changes of traffic lights, unable to move off, the night before.

I've always said I passed because the examiner was worried he might get me again if he failed me!! I had to drive on a pavement, so didn't really expect to pass!!

My Mum decided I passed first time because I was wearing a mini (micro mini!) skirt at the time. Sour grapes as she had to take four tests before passing!

My friend says she passed as she was 8 months pregnant and she thinks the examiner was worried she would give birth in the car 😁
