TV trouble

Today our TV decided to start changing channels every few seconds all on it’s own.I tried everything,switching on and off,changing batteries in remote,googling etc.etc.I finally gave in and phoned the helpline. I wasn’t encouraged as after going through the usual rigmarole of pressing several numbers and finally getting through to a human I got cut off after explaining the problem.
I went through the whole performance again I spoke to a different advisor.After again giving all the details and reeling off the various model numbers the advisor said he’d never come across this problem before! He decided if we took it back to original settings that would sort it out. He talked me through what to do ,which I hate having to do as I’m afraid of doing it wrong.Anyway I survived but although the advisor said the TV was fine I couldn’t get it to work. He then said if I reset the sky box it should be okay. I’ve done this before so knew what to do. When we finally had success I was SO relieved.

When I worked in creche which was part of a large leisure centre, every so often the hands on all the clocks on the walls throughout the building would whizz round, covering 12 hours in minute or 2. Something to do with synchronising all the clocks we were told. Most disorientating the first time you encounter it!

Pleased you got it sorted Clover.
Hubby is a jinx with tv's and their accessories.
About 6 weeks ago,we got a new recorder and a dvd player.
It was me that had to set them up.
Mind you,he's clever at other things.

Neither of us are any good with sorting the tv out, but OH watches more than I do so he's usually more motivated to have a go!

I counted the remote control boxes the other day....there's 6! I stick to the Sky one & have no idea what the other boxes work what. Clover you are clever. I wouldn't know where to start, even with help. Well done.

Well done, Clover. I hate it when things go wrong but usually DH can sort them out, but I guess I’d have to if he wasn’t able to so should really take notice of what he does.

Yes Enfys I would certainly advise ladies to take note of all the things their OHs deal with like insurances,banks bills etc,etc as it was a steep learning curve for me when G had to take a back seat with these things.

I agree Clover. When OH had his last setback 18 months ago and we were warned we might only have months together, we came home and he started making notes of what needs doing and when, which files are where, etc etc. Thankfully, the meds kicked in and he's still with us, but it does make you think of what actions each of you take as a matter of course.

Without meaning to sound morbid, we've made our wills and are in the process of setting up Power of Attorney, before either of us are not 'of sound mind'!

Having spent a large part of married life without OH around, I've got used to sorting out household problems !
