    Internet protection

Which company do you use for your virus protection etc?
We use Norton. I have used both McAffee and the free AGF (I think that is is) in the past..
I have just looked at my annual reneweal reminder email, and seen that it is almost £80.
it seems a lot. I now we need this protection, but am I paying too much??

We have internet protection through our bank account free of charge. I think it is Norton but I might be wrong. Might go and have a look but I know we have it.

We have McAffee that comes with our BT broadband so it isn’t exactly free , it’s part of out broadband chargers but it works out cheaper than having to pay an annual renewal fee. We have never had a problem with McAffee .

The renewal is due on March 8th. I have cancelled the automatic renewal, as I am sure I will get it much cheaper, by just buying it again just before it runs out which I will. I cannot afford almost £80, I am being ripped of I'm sure! I bet when we took it out it was one of those reduced for one year offers, and then they encourage you to auto renew, hoping you will forget it goes up vastly!

Gem I'm sure B buys ours from Argos its Norton and a lot cheaper buys the card then puts it on that way ,
I may be wrong but I know he does his Mam's that way so I assume he does ours like that , I also think it covers about 5 devices
            Worth looking at

OH usually checks the prices and gets it from whoever has the best offer. It’s often half the full price. We have Norton I think.

When I had my laptop set back to factory settings in September my SuperGeeks man installed Bitdefender for me its the system they use in their business and they are a "Which" rated Company it cost me £41.00 for 12 mths they also do an offer for new customers apparently.
I have McAffee included in my BT package but found so many virus's where breaking through it was when I was with McAffee that I got the malware virus that wiped out my emails and I have never been able to retrieve them since.

I think I probably sound smug on this one, Gem. Macs seem to keep ahead of any viruses and I've never had any separate protection. Although I have seen things like 'Is your Mac running slow' online, I've never used them. I use an external drive which is set to back up every day and keep my software up to date.

Of course, as I type this I'm touching wood, keeping my fingers crossed and counting my lucky stars so as not to tempt fate!!!

Qwerty - they also don't get targeted by the bad guys so often - there aren't enough of us Mac users to tempt the baddies.

OH was trying to put McAffee on but it wouldn't work this time. He was onto the company almost a full afternoon. It ended up by them trying to sell him 'something or other' to help it work. OH said he wasn't falling for that one. I said that I hoped he didn't pay for the fone call🤤Bit stuck now which to get. Like you Gem we had Norton but it became too expensive.
