    e-mail address

We have had btinternet accounts for years which we have been paying a small amount to retain as we changed from bt to virgin. They are putting the price up considerably so, as OH will be retiring and we won't need to worry about keeping the same e-mail address, we are going to change to another service. Does anyone know if they are all much of a muchness or is there anything we should be considering when we make the change?

I don't know really Shem. I have had a Yahoo account for many years, and on the whole am satisfied with it. There have been a couple of times I couldnt access it, but mostly it has been fine. I can't really comment about any others.

I've also had Yahoo email addresses (got 3) always been happy with them. I know they were taken over by BT, but as far as I know, you can still sign up for free email addresses.
Having said all that, I've heard that AOL are OK, they also do free email accounts.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I've got a Yahoo account because at one time you had to have one to use Flickr (a photo sharing site). I've nothing but trouble with it and currently I can't access my Flickr account.

I've used gmail for my main email accounts for years, and never had any trouble at all. I like the way mails and their replies group together as a 'conversation' and it just works well for me.

I had some idea that Hotmail wasn't accepted for certain things but perhaps that is outdated now? OH seems keen to go with Hotmail. I had trouble with my yahoo account when bt first took over but that seems to have settled down now.

I would be happy to pay £10 a month if someone could guarantee not to alter or change anything on my iPad or laptop. I struggle to find my documents with all the "improvements" now on my laptop. Particularly infuriating when you are asked if you want certain changes and say no and then a few days later it is changed anyway! I almost envy my Luddite friends - almost but not quite!

Shem - you could also envy your Mac friends!

Google (gmail) works brilliantly and I wouldn't change it. There have been extra features added over the years, but you don't have to use them - but I know lots of people who do. I just want straight forward email and it's really reliable, including on my phone and iPad.

Daisy I'm with you about G-mail. I used to have Hotmail but had problems with it but G-mail is fine for me.
