    Windows 10 ?

There I was minding my own business this morning just browsing through the Forums I read when my screen went blank and up popped a message that Windows 10 was installing itself to my pc ??? I know that I never requested it or pressed any of the relevant icons for it to start installing so had to wait ages for it to run its course, when finished it gave the option to proceed or to revert back to my previous windows setting which I did,and ever since I have not had internet access from that PC,I am working on my other laptop at the minute and my ipad is also not affected.why do these random things happen to us ?? its very annoying I will have to wait for boffin DGS5 to pop in and reset all the setting for me.uurrrh

I heard over the weekend that someone else had Windows 10 installed on their pc. They didn't request it and once it had started to download there was no stopping it.
Don't quote me on this, but I think you can uninstall Windows 10 and revert back to Windows 8 or 7 whichever it was you were using. I think there is a time limit for this but it is months rather than days so you should be ok .

Glam I think you will be able to revert to W8. The only problem I can see is that sooner or later Micrsoft will stop supporting preWindows10 versions. Then no doubt you will have to pay for W10. Btw are you on W8 or 8.1?

I have been using 10 for some time and yes, it takes a while to get used to but in a professional environment it does a lot more and much easier than the previous programme. I like that it takes you back to where you left document. This is good for me as I sometimes have two hundred page documents to read. Some of the other stuff is not so feat but it is progress ladies! Five or six years ago would any of us have thought that we would be swiping a screen to close it down of pinching fingers?

I know I have to move over to it eventually, but I will be one of the last

My OH has a sign in his study which says "To foul things up completely you need a computer" and this sums up his attitude (and, dare I say it, aptitude) perfectly. But even he has found Window 10 easy, and I haven't had any plaintive cries of 'Daisy, can you just sort this out' for ages.

I'll be with Gemini on this one as I am a dinosaur when it comes to change, the problem was that when it reverted to the old programme it switched itself off from the wi-fi connection so now that code has been reset and away we go once again (until the next time) xx

If you want a dinosaur you should go to th financial manager we saw yesterday. He took us up some steep stairs (I am sure the HSE would have something to say about no hand rails and the lighting or lack of) we went to the top of the building into an attic room which was piled high with files stuffed with paperwork. I actually gasped and said "Oh my goodness". He looked a bit shocked and informed me that in his job he had to keep paper copies of everything. Well yes but really?? He did have a computer, well he had a screen which I could see the top of above a load of files, but didn't once refer to it but did do some calculations on a very old and dirty calculator.

Therefore ladies, let none of you consider yourselves dinosaurs as I met a very really one yesterday.....

Be aware, report in the Guardian highlighted by BBC News early this morning, says that if you get a Windows 10 pop up and click the Red Cross which usually closes a pop up down it will install Windows 10. Microsoft have not made this public. Might not be true of course just thiught I would let you know.

Zizi - that's a very sneaky thing for Microsoft to do!! I think they forget that not everyone wants the latest innovations - they just want their computer to work to do the jobs they require of it. When we were in Redmond last June (just before W10 launched) the whole city was agog with it, and I'm sure they lose sight of what the rest of the world thinks or wants!
