    Artemis II

I didn't stay up to watch the launch of the first manned/womanned space ship since the 70s. OH did, and said it was spectacular.

I was struck this morning by the view from the spaceship of planet Earth. It was a tiny ball in the vastness of space, looking totally insignificant. I felt it put our life on this planet into perspective as just the third rock from the sun.

I wonder about the morality of spending millions of dollars on the venture when there is so much poverty and hardship in the world. But I doubt that if the space program was cancelled that money would find its way to those in most need. I'm probably just being very cynical.

Is anyone else following its journey?

I admit I didn't watch it Daisy, not am I following it really . I did hear about it on the radio though.
Little E, aged 3, was shown some footage at his nursery and they talked about it did related activities.

Daisy, i have been following this. I've always been interested in space travel.
Long before men walked on the moon.
I can remember Yuri Gagarin (first man in space) going into space, when i was 10 years old.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

          I watched online ,
I do think it's fascinating and I would love to be a crew member,
But I agree Daisy all that money , as you say though would it actually be used for the greater good if not on this.

What I worry about is all this power going into space ,, is it contributing to global warming?
Plus all the debris floating around .

What I do object to is money being donated to India yet they have the money to have a space programme but none to help their people,
          Seems wrong to me .
But that's another argument isn't it

Oma, I think all that debris floating round is a worry, as well. I also think a country should feed and care for its people before spending millions on a space program. It's a luxury for a rich economy, or it should be.

Nanto, I remember Yuri Gagarin as well. It was in the days when the two super powers, USA and Russia, were racing to be the first to land on the moon. Did you watch the moon landing in 1969? We sat up all night, glued to our little black & white tv, mesmerised. Not just the achievement of men landing on the moon but the fact that we could watch it happening in real time.

Gem, the Nursery children are concentrating on the programme. I wonder what they thought of it all.
