We have our landline, broadband and TV services from Sky.
Mostly it's OK, but we do have problems from time to time. These are usually solved by a phone call to Sky (if you can get through) Sometimes they are temporary and just right themselves.
A couple of weeks ago we realised both our phones were on 4G, not our internet. We tried to connect via the laptop and couldn't. We thought it may be one for those right itself situations but it wasn't.
We tried all the steps they advise you online and eventually called them. They looked into it and said the problem appeared to be outside our property and an engineer would come.
Eventually he did he checked inside and out and agreed it was outside, he did a temporary fix to give us the internet back. And off he went.
Someone else came a day or so later, looked into the problem, agreed it a outside and was a cable, managed to damage the cable and left us with no internet.
By this time our next door neighbour had let us sign on to his internet for as long as we wanted, which was and is a great help.
Days passed and we waited for the promised engineer visit to fix things. Eventually OH phoned Sky again. The phone operator had a strong foreign accent and we were left not really knowing what was going on. What we did learn was no visit to us was booked in!!!
Yesterday morning great excitement as we saw Open Reach vans arrive and begin working. OH went to to ask if they were working on our problem. The answer was yes, but they were only the hole diggers!! They told her they are obliged to sort out a hole within 3 days, so engineers woud be back within that time. The broken area is under the pavement in front of our neighbour's house. I feel bad for him as it's not his problem and his pavement is all dug up with fences etc surrounding it. No sign of anyone to fix it today.
All this time we have had no landline, no internet apart from that of our neighbour, Alexa won't work nor the Ring doorbell. We can watch Sky and our recordings are still being done but we can't get any Catch Up channels. Most unsatisfactory.
They have told us they are knocking something off our next bill. OH would like a sports channel so is going to see if they will give her that, even on a temporary basis.
I will report back.
