    Contacted Virgin

OH finally bit the bullet and rang Virgin about their price rise and intermittent wifi. They have increased our broadband speed, taken off the £3 price increase and are sending us a new router as ours is obsolete. They wanted to charge us for posting the router but backed down very quickly so hopefully we should be back in business before too long! It's been really frustrating when it keeps coming and going!

We are with Talk Talk and when they are good they are excellent but if there is a problem they are complete pants. We have a call, broadband and TV package. I was idly clicking away one day a while ago and I saw that our ten current package was costing £26.99 just for broadband and phone and we could actually get the TV viewers package as well for £6 less. We don't use the calls part though. it is quite handy having the TV package.

I keep a sharp eye on prices this time of year as its when we are due to re contract with BT,we have BT Infinity which gives me virus protection as standard and is very good we have BT Vision with family pack and all the free channels along with BT Sports for "His Knibs" also have 24hr free calls up to 1 hour 7 days a week,it was when totalled up £51.00 which was reasonable but when I saw all the other offers this year I told them I wanted a discount or we would move providers, they said we may be due a long term client discount and when the girl checked for me it came back at £40.30 including line rental and everything else we had got so we are really happy this year, and I must say I have never lost any signal or broadband service as long as we have been with them, nearly 6 years now.Best of luck Shemadee when your new router arrives you will be able to chat as long as you like

I had problems with BT last week, several days I was left with intermittent broadband, it would go off for several hours and when I did manage to get on line I noticed I had an email from BT informing me that my broadband service, line rental and BT Sports charges were going to increase.
That was a red rag to a bull moment. I got I touch with them and told them I had a quote from Sky for the same service at half the price so I would be leaving BT. Within a matter of mins they had brought my charges to less than last years prices , in fact the same as I would have paid if I had gone to Sky. As for the broadband signal it's ok at the moment, they jiggled things their end so I shall keep an eye on it .

It's amazing how they suddenly reduce prices, or offer you extra things once you threaten to leave!!

I am leaving Talk Talk on Friday and Utility Warehouse is taking over. We pay our utility bills to them and they have always been excellent, and cheap!

I tried to contact Talk Talk and got through to Madras or somewhere, and the lady on the other end didn't understand me, and I didn't understand her. AOL whom I was with before have been taken over by Talk Talk and I was stuck with an AOL router which is not functioning very well. So I wanted to get Talk Talk, to send me a new router. 3 phone calls later, one lasting an hour where absolutely no understanding was had by either side, I gave up and spoke to Utility Warehouse.

The new router has arrived and we go live on Friday I am terrified as I have to connect the router up and just want everything to work first time and not sure it will !

              Wish me luck!

Was much better this afternoon but has gone very patchy again. Very frustrating but will have to be patient and hope the new router gets us back to normal.

That happened to us when our house insurance cost rocketed, I went on line and found an insurance with everything that we were getting from Nationwide for almost half the cost. When we phoned Nationwide to cancel our policy well, guess what? They could match the lower quote. I said that we would go with our original quote and they said again they would match it and then lowered it even more! My question is, whether it is TV, Broadband, phone, insurance if they can lower the cost so much why are they not lowering the cost anyway?

I suppose they don't lower the cost straight away, is because some people won't question it,and will pay whatever is asked.it pays to haggle/shop around.

Same thing with the AA. Every year they send a huge annual bill. OH gets on the phone and says we are going with RAC now, this is ridiculous etc etc., and they bring it down to about 1/3rd of what was in the letter!
