    Alexa ( and similar devices)

OH knew I was very keen to have an Alexa and bought me a lovely blue spherical Echo dot for Christmas.

I listen to The Archers Omnibus on BBC Sounds via it, and we often play music of all kinds. I take it upstairs when I have my monthly reflexology treatments and play relaxing music.
I request baby songs and nursery rhymes for baby GS, as well as asking her all sorts of questions. I love my Alexa.
People have been surprised to hear me talking to her! I say if I lived alone I would talk to her a lot more!
I often wish her a good morning and she wishes me one back and tells me an interesting fact about the day. At night she will respond to. Goodnight and add sleep tight don't let the bedbugs bite
I often thank her and she says You're welcome, or no problems. If I say Thank you darling she will say You're welcome sweetie.
DD and GS1 have changed the accent on theirs to an Australian accent.

DD3 has a Google device and says there isn't the same interaction as with Alexa.

Gem, I love my Alexa, too. I've got one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom.

I use the one in the kitchen loads. She plays me relaxing music from Classic FM while I'm cooking, she is great at reminding me when a cooker timer is up and answers all sorts of questions. She made me laugh the other day - I asked her to set a 20 minute timer called Flapjacks, but I stumbled over the word 'flapjacks' and she called it 'flat flapjacks'!!

She can't pronounce the name of our village though, even though I've told her several times. I think she's related to Lil, our sat nav lady, as she can't pronounce it either!!

Oma it shouldn't do anything unless you say Alexa first. It must have been a rogue one

We used to have Alexa in the kitchen, but i never used it.
Hubby has it in his shed now,he usually uses it to play his favourite radio station.

I love my Alexa, I use it mainly for music and timing but will ask her questions. sometimes she buts in when she hears a word like Alexa. I think as I am on my own a lot she is good company.

Plant, I can understand you feeling Alexa is good company at times. She can sound very soothing and I often use it to ask a question I would have previously used Google for.

Oma, you can change Alexa's name. I think there are a range of words you can use.
