    Cross and frustrated!

I've never considered myself a technophobe, but sometimes I could jump up and down on my computer and hurl it out of the window! Grrrr .....

It's not the computer's fault - it's the internet giants getting too clever and far too smart for my liking - or understanding.

So what happened - I was watching a YouTube live streaming of an artist giving a tutorial. It was really interesting, but I had a question, so I subscribed to his channel and put my question under a pseudonym. Then loads of questions popped up about setting for this and that about use of YouTube. Not wanting to get into a long dialogue with YouTube I pulled out and cancelled my question. Ok, b****y You Tube, why does it have to be so involved! Thought no more about it.

This morning, trying to send emails round OH's family about news from the American part of the family I noticed Goggle had changed my name from Daisy to the alias I'd used on YouTube. I've been trying for ages to change it back but it's still wrong, and according to my OH it's been like that ever since I asked the question on YouTube!! Grrr .....

Oh dear Daisy, I often wonder how and why they do things like that.

Daisy I find it scary when your on line looking for something and the your inundated with adverts for that item not only on computer or iPad but on your phone too even though you haven't put your phone number in and you can't stop them .
Another thing is if you have been anywhere and you get messages like how was MC Donald's , I don't know I don't go there I just passed it , they know everywhere you have been , talk about big brother

Have you tried unsubscribe on YouTube ? Maybe it hasn't done that ?

I don't know where some of the pop-ups come from when I haven't subscribed or used them.

They know more about you than you know yourself.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Oh I hate things like that Daisy.
I hate that ads pop up for things you have been looking at. As you say, they know too much.

Oma, OH and I get those 'how was such and such shop?'. We won't have been in, but somehow they log you via your phone in passing.

Gem - there should be a setting on your phone where you can select or unselect the GPS information which says where you (or more accurately, your phone) are at any given time. I leave mine switched off so I don't get those type of messages - well, that's what I thought I'd done, but I can't find it in Settings at the moment. It must be there somewhere.

Lizzie - I'm not sure - I don't think so. It's to do with the GPS, so may be under Maps? I'll try and find out later.
