    New TV

Yesterday morning I was quite happily enjoying morning coffee watching a recording of Downton Abbey on TV.
Suddenly the TV screen went black and I only had the sound. I tried a variety of methods (which I won’t bore you with) to try and fix the problem. I made a couple of phone calls and decided, in my techno phobic state, that I would buy myself a new TV. I looked on line and was blinded with science. So I hit the shops to pick everyone’s brains. Almost £400 later I had purchased a new TV from John Lewis. It is being delivered and set up on Thursday. Exciting! This morning I bought the recording of Downton Abbey from ‘Apple’ and I have watched it on my iPad. Very good it was too.

I would have done exactly the same Sunshine!
Enjoy your new TV, and Downton

We want our TV to break! We have had it years, it was OH's before we moved here. It has a wide frame surrounding it, as opposed to today's ones with very little frame, the screen taking up most of the size. We want a bigger one but can't justify spending money on one as it still works 😄

We bought one not so long ago , well I tell a lie it didn't cost us anything ,

We had a curved screen TV that I hated but like Gem couldn't justify getting rid of it . it developed white patches at the side of the screen and as it was still under the 5 yrs warranty , they took it away to mend .
After about a week we got a call to say it couldn't be fixed as they has stopped making them so told us to go to PC World and choose another ,

We didn't expect a lot back as we had had it 4 years so expected to have to pay towards a new one, but when we got there they had refunded the full purchase price of £799 .

We now have a all singing all dancing lovely TV I have no blooming idea how to damn well use

I fight with it every day much to the amusement of my family who think im a dinosaur with any kind of Technology ( its true I am )

Enjoy your lovey set im sure you can work it better than I could hahaha
Im not fat just 6ft too small

Enjoy your new tv Sunshine when its up and running later in the week.
We bought a Sony tv 3 years ago for the living room.
Then we bought a smaller one for the conservatory.
2 years ago,we bought one for the room where the computer is. it doesn't get used a lot though.
We've also bought 2 new recorders in the past 2 years.
Toying with the idea of getting a new one for the kitchen.
Hubby says why bother the one we have works ok.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Sunshine - well done for getting the new tv sorted out so quickly. I'm sure you'll be very pleased with it.

I'm a complete numpty with tvs - I can just about switch ours on - in my defence it needs three different controllers! I don't know how to access anything I record without getting it wrong several times first, have never used iPlayer on it and generally leave it to my square-eyed OH.

I am now watching TV in the bedroom or catch up on the iPlayer until the new one comes on Thursday.

I think (hope) my new one is quite straightforward. I made it quite clear that all I wanted was to be able to watch TV, record programmes and/or series, pause, fast forward etc. The main thing was a good clear picture. Hopefully it will fulfil my needs without too many complicated extras. We’ll see. When they deliver it, I will also get a demo. I might get a paper and pencil handy to take notes.
