    Laptops

A question for those of you who have a laptop, as opposed to a Mac, or iPad or tablet.
What do you have, and are you happy with it?

My laptop is dead. I' m waiting to hear back from our computer guy who took it away to look as, but I think it has had it.

I don't have a large budget. Having paid the balance of our recent holiday and bought our (too expensive) flights to Florida next Easter, it has been an expensive time.
A laptop is vital to me. There is only so much you can do on a phone. Our Samsung tablet is years old, and I have always preferred to work on a laptop away.

When you Google laptops under £500, they call them budget .
I call it a lot of money!!!

Gem I have got a HP laptop, it’s just over 12 months old now . It’s was under the £400 price but I did buy it in a sale.
It works well, does everything I want but I get impatient with it as it takes longer to load up compared to my iPad which is extremely fast .
Would you consider getting an IPad ? The new ones are supposed to be really good . Mine is years old and the new ones out do much more than mine, that’s why I brought the lap top. I needed something I could work with my printer.
Bearing in mind that a new iPad isn’t exactly cheap .
    Good luck with your choice.
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Gem, you can use an ipad with a seperate keypad? Works the same as a laptop.

I think so Lizzie, but I think it would be too expensive.
Also would I be able to prepare and store the Minutes I prepare, and print etc?
I am woefully ignorant about ipads, despite my DDs having them!

Yes Liz, you can store and print, like a mini laptop really.

Gem - my iPad is ancient and everyone tells me they're better now, but given what you want to use it for I think you'd be better off with a laptop. If you buy one with a decent processor the speed will be good. I don't know what currently constitutes a decent processor but that's the important factor. If you buy with with less storage you can always buy extra external storage later on when you cash flow had recovered. Have a look at trade in deals as well.

A Chromebook would be cheaper, but I've never used one, so I don't know if it would do what you want.

Gemini I have a Samsung Lap-Top and it does everything I want it to,Nice and light to transport in your bag Windows 10 etc good storage and fast loading it was about £350.00 from PC World 2 yrs ago.
Always go into stores nearer the end of the month when they need to meet their targets and ask for a discount on the price it works everytime (well nearly) xx

We have a Toshiba laptop. Dad bought it but never used it, so gave it to me.
I use it now and again. Must admit we both like the PC.
We have a Samsung tablet, but only really use it for photos.
Sometimes i will use my phone, but can't do everything on it.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

My screens are getting smaller and smaller. I traded my PC for a lap top when it was getting past it. Then when the laptop got too slow, I changed it for an iPad. I actually have two iPads, a big one and a mini. I use the big one at home, but take the mini when I am away. I also have an iPhone, but that’s a bit too small to do very much on. I use the big iPad every day. I have no use for the study/office any more. I just have a spare room.
