    Paypal scam?

I had an email in my inbox this morning from Paypal, saying I had money. I wasn't expecting any so I cautiously went in through normal log in procedures, and I think it's a scam - there was no fairy godmother depositing millions!

    Don't open any similar email.

Do be careful if you use Paypal. I've got to go out very soon so haven't got time to check further.

Thanks Daisy, I will look out for this one.
There are so many of these scams about these days.
As long as we don't click on link or respond there should be no harm. Likewise respond to nothing over the phone which asks for any bank or other personal details.

Thanks Daisy. If you click on the email address of the sender, if it’s a scam it won’t be the right address. For example, it might say dot com, or dot.org instead of dot uk. We never respond to anything like that. Also. Look at how they address you, they might say dear customer instead of your name. You have to have your wits about you these days, always wise to be over cautious I think.

I had one some weeks ag saying I owed them money and if I didn't ring a number or enter my details my account would be suspended ,
Well (1) I wasnt falling for that
        (2) I don't have a Pay pal account I always use B's
The same week I had a one saying I owed £500 for not paying for my TV licence the year before , and if I didn't respond instantly I would be taken to court , to avoid this I must have my credit card details with me when I payed so they could check my account !!! . We have a standing order for Licence and like I would give my details out like that .
If they were fining me I don't think it would be in a random email and again the TV licence isn't in my name
Im not fat just 6ft too small

As I was reading this OH's fone went...scam showed up on the screen. Why can't people just leave us all alone?

I never go to Paypal through an email. Always log in the proper way.
The sad thing is,some people do fall for this type of email.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

They do Nan2, and the phone calls.
There is one going round which says you have downloaded something from an illegal site, and to avoid police involvement you need to pay to have it put right etc.
All total nonsense, but some people won't dare risk ignoring it.

We keep getting automated calls from BT (supposedly) saying our broadband will be suspended if we don’t ring this number. Hmmm, strange, we’re not with BT, yet another one to be ignored.

I get that one frequently and BT said take a note of the number and they will block it. I don't use pay pal I use my JL card I get vouchers for using it.

I occasionally have an email saying I have money in my account. I do have a very small amount. Like Nanto2 I never go in via an email, always the proper way.
We are told every week that BT will be terminating our Internet by an automated message!

It is horrible to have to be suspicious about all these messages etc. It doesn’t matter wether it is online, by phone or by post, we all have to keep our wits about us. I do sometimes wonder how many genuine messages I ignore, because I am suspicious of anything I am not expecting. Thankyou Daisy for alerting us to your potential scam. It is a reminder to always be careful.

We get the BT one too - and we're not with BT. I also get loads about the accident I had recently for which I wasn't to blame. The last one I couldn't resist saying 'Ah, that must be the accident I had on the moon'. There was a split second of silence and then the dialling tone!

Sunshine - I'm sure I miss things, too, just because I can't be certain they are genuine.

Gem - I think the one blackmailing people over the supposed use of an illegal site is particularly nasty.

Oma - I hadn't heard about the TV licence one, but that's nasty, too.
