We were having a discussion on the This Day In History thread, so I have moved those posts here.

Nanto - it doesn't seem possible it was 15 years ago. I can remember exactly where I was and what I was doing too. The early news reports were very confused and then when the second tower was hit, and then the Pentagon it seemed as though the whole USA was under seige."Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. I was having a driving lesson. I came home, made my lunch and switched on the TV and saw it. I thought it was a terrible, tragic accident. Then as I watched reports of the second tower being hit, then the Pentagon, came in. I felt sick, shocked and very scared for the world.
That day changed me, even though I wasn't involved. From then on I have never been afraid to tell or show people that I care for them, as you never know when it all may be taken away from you, and be too late.
I will move this to its own topic as not everyone reads this thread“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

I was a teaching assistant at the time. Just gone outside for my coffee break, when of the bus escorts came and said there had been a bad accident in America.
Every classroom put their TV's on. The whole school was silent, apart from the TV's.Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

My DD1 was on her honeymoon in Hawaii when this happened. We had a phone call from her crying. She asked if it was the start of world war 3 and would she see us again as all flights had been stopped. She said they had hardly any dollar left and they would have to sleep on the beach as they couldn't afford to stay on at the hotel . They had been due to fly home two days later.
They did manage to get home via different airports but had been alarmed at the time

Millie - that's must have been very frightening. My DIL2 was in New Orleans with her father (before DS and she were an 'item') and it was a week before they could get a flight home.
I was helping in my DS's shop that day and a customer came in asking if we'd heard. Someone had one of those tiny 2" tvs and we put that on in the shop and everyone who came in just stood there in silence, watching.
